Smile Memory Upgrade. I did it myself!

I read about upgrading my IMac memory and ordered the 4G of memory from Crucial since my <2yr old computer memory is no longer stocked at the Apple store.

It was all done in less than ten minutes, until I turned it back on and got a sound I shouldn't be hearing. Kind of like a sick foghorn. So, I uninstalled all the new, installed one of each etc etc. Same sick sound. RE-installed the old 1G. Same sound. Fortunately, the resident IT man was on his way past and so he and I went through the same processes.

Finally he shoved those little memoryboards in even harder and there was a subtle but distinct click. I had already dented my fingers trying! Amazing. But the proof is in that little info screen. I'm lovin' the increased speed.

Excellent! The extra shove is all we need, sometimes.

You all know that there were Mac rumors of a new IMac today. Well, I got mine via more memory but check that NEW IMac Apple - iMac - The ultimate all-in-one desktop computer. speed AND a 27" screen instead of a 24"!!

Lynn, modern cars are too sensitive for a lot of fiddling. I am happy to leave my automotive maintenance to the VW dealer. ;-)

Isn't that just too funny, just a little additional shove and things work! At least you know you did everything right... good for you Maureen, you are awesome!

fwiw, the 4G of memory was $93.99 plus tax and shipping from Crucial.com which is the company the Apple store rec'd. Other than a tiny Phillips screwdriver the only other thing you need is shoving ability I'd say. My 'baby' is now maxed out and well worth it I think.

I'm impressed with your skills, Maureen!

A little body building and you could have shoved a bit harder.
