Default Shutterfly Photo Book House Parties

Just got the email --- they've got a limited number of spots. Looks like your guests get a free photobook . . . maybe cards. I'm interested to see how these work. Will we be adding Shutterfly parties to the Lia Sophia, Pampered Chef, Tupperware rotation?

I just read mine too! sounds interesting, I just don't have any friends (IRL) who scrapbook, I guess photo books in general would be okay too. Sounds cool!

WHAT?! I love free shutterfly books and teaching folks how to do a photobook, but I may have to draw the line if it interferes with a DD all-day chat!

I just got it and sent in the application. Seems it's an application for a one-time thing; I definitely wouldn't be interested in making a commitment for more than one. But I have a lot of friends who constantly ask about my books, and about how to get their photos into books. With a legitimate product, and one I believe in and use all the time, that isn't super-inflated in price, who could go wrong? I love parties, I'm always looking for an excuse to throw one.

It sounds like it would be fun!

Just read my email. Very interesting concept for home parties, don't you think?

That Saturday is the DD chat/sale and my eldest son's birthday. Can't be a Shutterfly hostess, too!

Anke, I have friends who don't scrapbook, but, they are very interested in creating books on Shutterfly with their photos. I've walked a couple of them through the steps.

I got this email too and I was wondering how this will be effective... would everyone bring pictures?? Would you demo on your computer with others able to use it too? I was trying to figure out all the details before I sign-up. Great idea to get more people involved.

I received the email too-but I dont know anyone close who scraps digitally who isnt already committed to a way of doing things-so I wasnt planning to respond, and if it is the same day as an all day chat-then I know I will be otherwise occupied!

The site said 30 times more people apply than are approved, so it's a small chance to be selected.

The survey also asked if you'd feel comfortable asking your invitees to upload their pictures to the Shutterfly site before the party. I think somehow the expectation is that each person will have/have access to a laptop, and could work on their own albums at the party. OR at least a few people would have them, and somehow you're expected to demo the product and walk people through the process of creating books.

Either way, I'm game. I stay away from hosting the other home parties because I'd rather order the product from a catalog and not have to sit through demos of products I already know. But this would be new for everyone, and it really is a product that requires some level of tutorials for people who aren't willing to just jump in on their own.

I imagine this is a trial for a new marketing concept. If it works I bet Shutterfly picks up on it. It sounds like a good thing.

I think you'd be great at it Sarah. You could also introduce guests to digital scrapbooking and maybe even start small classes. Wouldn't it be nice to have some IRL friends with the same interest?

It's too bad that it is on the same day as the DD sale because Shutterfly and DD go together like peanut butter and jam! You can't do one without the other! Well you could but it wouldn't be as good. Is DD one of the sponsors for the event?

Well, my hope is if I get chosen and can actually get people to come, I can say "by the way, if you want to put together a digital book, DD has a huge sale right now, you have to go buy some stuff!" Then, while we're chatting, I can show them the site with all the product, and show them how I've used the product in my books.

Hey, give someone a homemade brownie, make your house smell like cookies, bread, and pumpkin pie, and they'll buy anything, right?

I got the email too and signed up. Why not? I just did a little intro to digiscrap class at my house last month with a few friends. Everyone brought their laptops and we worked on a couple of simple pages. (I sent them running to DD for supplies, Katie...tee hee) The house party with Shutterfly would be a fun follow up, I think!

I also got the invite but my worry is that if all the parties are the same day and we show them how to use the SF templates, will the site hold all that traffic? Was glad to hear they are limiting numbers, but still worried.

No, I'm not a finalist. Didn't get an email, either, had to go on the site to find out. But they said they get 30,000 applications and only have 1,000 spots. Curious what disqualified me. I don't know how random the process is.

Wow, Sarah! Very cool. I'm sure you'll throw an awesome party! And, Bailey and Sarah -- sorry --- but, hey! you tried AND . . . perhaps they'll do this again and you'll be on the "list"

I'm confirmed too with a little "photography" class added in to my party

If you go to the houseparty.com website you'll see the company organizes parties for EVERYTHING imaginable...I feel kind of cheap now

But it will be FUN!!

Their website is having serious issue right now, but I was able to read comments. It sounds like they sent out more hostess invites than spots as some ladies got an invite, but they were too late in responding. I, or they, could be wrong.

I too wonder how they pick the hostess. While I am disappointed in not getting picked, I must admit that I am excited that I won't be missing the DD all day chats!
