Default SA Photowalk ladies - Katrina's Thank You Book

As most of you know, Katrina was kind enough to organize and lead those of us who went on the San Antonio Digi Crop on a Photowalk on the Saturday after it.

To show her a bit of our appreciation, a number of the ladies shared with me their favorite photo they took that day along with a few words of thanks for Katrina. I scrapped a page with their photo and words trying to incorporate some piece of element or design styling that each of them uses in their individual styles into a cohesive book look. Being as Katrina has helped us so much with our individual photography, it seemed fitting that beside each layout be a full bleed copy of the photo featured in their page. A combo photo/scrapbook.

Shutterfly must have been overloaded with photobook orders with their recent promotion as I have never known a book to take this long nor have I ever had to sit on my hands so long before being able to share it.

So Katrina -- Thank you so much from all of us! You touch our lives so positively every day with your sharing and caring.

And ladies who contributed photos -- Thank you so much! I really appreciate your assistance in putting this together for Katrina. I couldn't have done it without you!! I hope you like it too.

It is shared on my shutterfly share site so that if any of you wanted a copy as well, as some have expressed a desire to, you have access to save it & order for yourself.

You can find it directly it: http://hguenthe.shutterfly.com/114 (at least I hope that is its direct link, otherwise go to http://hguenthe.shutterfly.com and just scroll down below the photos to see the photobooks.

What a kind thing to do, Heather. To all of the ladies that contributed to this book, you are very special. I know Katrina, and I know how she will react to this remarkable gift. I do believe it's going to require a full box of Kleenex.

Katrina, thank you for sharing your great knowledge with the rest of us. You deserve this very special gift!

And, Heather . . . your layouts of the amazing photos are beautiful. You did an amazing job.

I'll second that, Heather. You are such a sweet person and so giving and thoughtful. Aside from that. THIS book is just simply AMAZING. HOLY COW.

I dont even have words to express the awesomeness. The design and concept are flippin' amazing. I love how on some of the pages the frame highlights a part of the photo blended into the background. WOW. AND you used kraft I am sure just for Katrina! Wow girl....Im just blown away. Great job on this.

I don't know where to start telling you how talented and thoughtful you are, Heather. I am so glad I could see the book you created for Katrina because everything about it is first class from the cover to the very last page. I've looked at it twice now and plan to go back again and again to absorb the beauty of photographs and memorize the ideas you used to format the pages. I love the concept of the book and the repeated use of the little postage stamp framed photos next to the full bleed photos which make the book unique.

Katrina will treasure this book.

That's great Heather. I love the way you used the full-bleed picture on the left side of each page, and there are some great pictures that were captured! Katrina is very lucky to have you do this for her!

Thank you all. I am glad you are liking it as well and seeing what Katrina means to each of us. For those that haven't met her in person, she really is just as sweet and caring. I can't count the number of times along the photowalk that I saw her engrossed in helping someone with their camera or giving them tips on better ways to get the shot they wanted. She is a truly amazing woman and I am so honored to have gotten to spend a couple of days getting to know her better. A weekend of meeting, a lifetime of memories.

Jen D - but of course the kraft was just for Katrina There was no doubt in my mind that it had to be a book built upon kraft for Katrina with a simple stitched edge. Hope I read her likes right from her pages.

Merrilee - let me help you out with the scrapbook layouts designs... the book was built using Katie's Simple Memories Layered Template Book. And the photos beside the scrapped page was a combo of wanting the photography given equal standing to the scrapping & worked out perfectly as we ended up with 10 contributors making it a perfectly sized book that way.

I only used a few of the page designs from the book templates & repeated them but there are lots of great layout options to choose from.

Thanks, Heather, that is good to know that the Simple Memories Template set could be used as the basis for a book like yours. (Katie's template sets are wonderful) What I admired was how you used a large blended photo behind the little postage framed photos and then the full bleed photo on the matching page. I'll be lifting that idea for my next Shutterfly album for sure!

Of course, all the talented photographers along for the photo walk contributed beautiful photos!
