I think Botanist Notebook No 5 would go well. Your mom's photo is lovely, and the beautiful outfit she is wearing is soft and fluid with touches of lavender.
1977 isn't so long ago and she looks young and hip, so I wouldn't do anything too ancient!

I've got another kit that might work well, it's by Jackie Eckles. With the funky flowers I think it might work well for a 70s photo: pretty kit

Pale Meadow is also a great colour match for your mom's dress and make-up.

She's very elegant, btw!

Being a bit cheeky, showing you layouts of my own... but this has a similar color-way and might give you a bit of a help

Layout one. The background paper is by MaryAnn Wise and that kit would work well too. The direct link is in the credits.

Lightbulb good ideas

I love the advice for kits from Birgit and Sarah. I'm getting ideas from this thread, too!

Chris, I'm with you on the 70's being the recent past!!! Our boys were born in the 70's and I keep thinking of that time as recent, too!

Sarah you can be forgiven for showing your own layout, I'm glad you did because it's so precious and I might have missed it otherwise! Your choice of papers is wonderful and I'll have to keep them in mind for future purchases of mine.

I have the Botanist No 5 that tyting recommended and need to get busy and use it!

Each afternoon I watch Brit programs from the seventies and feel right at home except for the big wigs and flared pants. I still have some pants though! They need to go to a yard sale along with my scrap papers! Good to know someone else knows how time flies!
