Default Vacation book Finally Done!!!

I finally finished my vacation book and uploaded it to Blurb. 116 pages whew! I can't wait to see how it comes out, set to ship by 8/24. I originally saved all the pages as a png format, I didn't realize they had a limit on the entire book size, with 116 .png images I went over the 2gb limit. I had to convert all the pages to jpg. Thank heavens for photoshop actions and batch processing. It didn't take too long to redo and re-upload.

Some friends that went on the trip with me wanted copies so I've made it a public book. I printed mine on premium paper (about $12 more), but when you put it out there for other people to order you have to specify regular or premium paper, seems like the people ordering should be able to choose that.

Here's the link to the book.

I'll be sure to let you guys know how the real thing looks.

I'm really excited to hear how you like the book, especially with premium paper. Shutterfly did my most recent book, and while they did a beautiful job, I'm still looking for a high-quality printer for those bigger-than-100 page books. Let us know!

Let us know how it prints. And congrats on getting it all finished - that's a lot of pages. I'm sure it's going to be a real treasure when you get it. : )

The first few pages look great. I love the blended photos. Seems odd that you can't preview the entire book though.

Anyway, I see you are in my home town. Been gone many years, but still think of it as "home"

I just uploaded and ordered my France album at Blurb, too. I'm eager to see how it looks "in the flesh."

I'm trying to make a blurb book too. I have difficulties to understand what size I have to make my scrapbookpages, because the pages will be trimmed. Did anyone of you make a 12 x 12 inch album? What size did you use for you pages? I would love to see your books, but on this computer I can't view them. Have to wait until I get home.

I'm also curious how the albums are gonna look, what the quality is!

Thanks for sharing.

It's great to see the pages so nice and large and the pages of your album look great! I'll be eager to hear about the quality of your printed version too!

Monique, my book is 12x12. You can preview the first 15 pages here:

I'm disappointed you can't preview the whole book at Blurb. I emailed them asking about that. They said maybe in the future. Argh!

Linda,
Your book looks very nice. I especially love the moonlight pages. I was disappointed as well that they don't provide a preview of the entire book. I ended up putting the pages on my web site here: Shorty's Mom's Photo Gallery not the same as the two page across display, but they can at least see all the pages. I posted the pages as I got sections done so my fellow travelers could follow my progress.
Monique1971,
I did 13 x 11 pages, I didn't realize that Blurb was doing 12 x 12 pages until after I had already started. I set up the pages in Photoshop at 13 x 11, some pages I started at 26 x 11, then cropped in half. There is some trim, if you look in the blurb software it will show you the actual size of the page. For me leaving it at 13 x 11 left me some room to skoot it around once I saw how it looked in the blurb software.

Hi Celia and Linda, thanks so much for replying! Now I am at home and I did see your albums, or at least a few pages of them. They both look so good! I hope mine will too! I will make my pages also 12 x 12. I will keep a save distance for the trimming. What covers did you both use? Is it the hardcover image wrap or the dust jacket? I don't know what dust jacket means.

I used the image wrap. A dustcover is a paper cover over the hard book. I just didn't want to have to keep up with that. They usually get torn or crinkled.

Gorgeous books, and very very inspiring. Celia, it was good to have a look at all the pages. I can see why your companions are interested in buying the book.

Monique,
I also chose the imagewrap for the same reasons that Linda did.
Maureen,
Thank you for the compliment that means so much coming from someone as talented as you are.

Both books look wonderful and seem to price out quite a bit less than other sites!

I did a book using their software and paper with just a few scrapped pages thrown in. I was very, very happy with the results. It is not a public book because there were many people who would have had to give me permission to post their photos. It was a gift for a friend and she raved and raved over it. I used an image wrap cover and the premium paper. Cost and service very similar to Shutterfly. If you are doing a book with lots of text, I would definitely recommend Blurb.
