Default An Informal PS Survey

As some of you know, I write my tutorials using CS3 screenshots, providing any different instructions for PSE users as necessary.

I'm trying to get a feel for when it will be time to switch to CS4 for my screenshots. I hesitate to do so because it does look a bit different than previous versions.

So, if you use Photoshop, could you please let me know which version you use?

Also, if you use CS4, does it bug you to look at tutorials done in CS3?

Thanks!

I still use 3 the majority of the time...it's on my desktop and I seem to be attached to it. both 3 and 4 are on the laptop...but I still don't feel comfortable with it for some reason...going to have to make more of an effort I guess...had 4 on the desktop too but somehow stuff got corrupted and I have never been able to get it reinstalled. Tried help from Adobe...but had no luck...and gave up. I haven't got the patience for all the technical stuff.

It makes no difference to me as to whether the screenshots are in CS3 or CS4 as I made the transition from CS3 to CS4 so have already learned to make the adjustments for the slight screen variations of tool locations.

I am CS3. I went to this from Version 7. From what DD says 4 is a bit different. When she tries to help me over the phone she has to go back to 3. It just is different enough the two confuse her. Once she sees it she remembers how to do it!!

I'm still on CS and for what I use it for I see no need to upgrade.

I may get the student CS$ <--4 upgrade this fall since if I'm gonna learn, I want to learn with the current platform. Digital is my last vice...

CS3. I don't think I'm going to change for a while.
Cassie I also wanted to say thanks for such great tutorials. They are so easy to follow. You are definitely the tutorial master!

I have CS4, but am fighting the urge to get PSE for my Mac - it's just so much more familiar to me and I'm getting a bit discouraged Too much change at one time I think...so maybe by the time you decide to switch to CS4 tutorials, I'll be ready to go back to it!

I have CS4 on my PC but need to get it for my (brandnew) Mac. No, it doesn't bother me to see CS3 screenshots at all!

Well you all know my recent problem with Photoshop...the 30 day (!) trial has expired!!!
When I get organised it will have to be CS4 I'll be buying but my older Mac, which my daughter uses has CS on it. I think it's fine to use screenshots from earlier versions. We have the same problem at college...The students all buy the most recent software with their academic discounts but all our Mac labs are CS2. Sometimes don't you just wish they would leave things alone for a little while...it'll be CS5 before we know it

I only have CS. It seems fine for what I want to do and works with the tutorials quite well except for a few things like not being able to select multiple items at a time.

I really wanted CS3, but I am so happy with PSE7 that and I am not sure I want to take to time to learn, besides that there are so many more things that I should be saving for...

lol kelly, I will be second on that list
and Fiona, I completely agree - everything is upgraded all the time.

I just took a class and they were using CS4 and it so many useful enhancements, I'd love to switch, but rumor has it that CS5 will be out next year (2nd quarter maybe) sometime, so I'll probably wait for that one.
Oh- and it wouldn't bother me one bit to use an earlier version for your tutorials!

I have CS3 and I like that, so I don't want to change to CS4. I really like your tutorials Cathy! The screenshots are easy and you can see what you will have to do. I don't know the difference between CS4 and CS3 but I guess I wouldn't mind which screenshot you use.

Smile Cs4

I have CS4 and love it! I don't mind viewing tutorials with CS3 but of course I think it's good to always keep progressing with the software if possible.

I, on the recommendation of my PS GURU, Dr. Cassie, did not upgrade from CS3 but will when the next version comes out. Hopefully they will have tweaked the weirdness out of 4 by then!!

I have heard (on another forum) that the next Adobe upgrades will be out this year? or was that just to PSE where they would, finally, make the same upgrades to Windows and MAC versions at the same time.

I kept noting that the free trial versions of CS4 offers were only good till Aug 10th. Checking today, I see the trial version is now $15.

honestly, I wish I hadn't upgraded when I did, it's not worth it for the little I use it! Maybe eventually, but I could have used the money toward a new lens

Oh, let me be very clear . . . the tutorials will still be for PS *AND* PSE users. I am just wondering when people will start preferring the screen shots in CS4 instead of CS3. The only tutorials I make that aren't for PSE are the "PS: I Love You" series. I know that the majority of users have PSE.
