Default Privacy issure please help!

Hi ladies, I have to say I've only ever posted to this site with any and ALL my scrapbook pages...untill I signed up for Flickr. The main reason I signed up for Flickr, is because I thought it would be safer than posting on FB, and alot of my family doesn't want FB, and still want to see photos that live far away...
Then today I JUST happened to click on something on my page that took me to a different web site that actually had one of my scrapbooking pages on it?! Now, no one asked my permission to take it, and there it is?! I didn't know that my photos could be copied off Flickr??
Here is the site :
The World's Photos Flickr Hive Mind Search Posted, new first&textinput=digital, scrapbooking

it is the "sisters" page with my two girls...
Does anyone know anything about this site
and how my photo got on there?
Or how I should change my settting on my flickr?
Please help as I would like to keep my photos viewable but not downloadable
yikes this is kinda scaring me!
Thanks Nichole

That is so scary Nichole. I dont use flicker or twitter or any of those kind of site. Until I DD (Katie) said that she had facebook for DD. I added my name and got a ton of junk stuff within a week. Had to redo the profile and just clicked no to everything. But since then I havent got back on Facebook at all. So I wouldnt be able to tell you anything for flicker or any of that stuff.
Last week while watching the news, theres a single mom who lives far from her family. So she decided she want to use flicker for her photo site. So she could share with her family. She did this for awhile.
One day she saw her photo of her little baby boy on a site. Her photo of her little boy was being used under some Adoption site. It was a baby adoption scam. She did her own little investigation. She emailed a site and said she was interested in Adopting a baby. And would like to see a photo of a child being up for adoption. They emailed each other a couple of times and when they finally sent her a couple of photos of babies that were up for adoption...her little boy picture was one of them. She got scared and called the police. They have been doing this for awhile now and finally got caught.
Its just scary to think that people can actually do this kind of things. I just hope it doesnt happen to me or any one of us. Just be careful! Im sure someone here on the site will tell you about the legal things. But I say its wrong for them to take the photo and use without any permission.

I don't know anything about Flickr, but I upload my pictures to Shutterfly, and then to a share site. My share site is a public link, but you can password protect share sites if you want to. When I posed my 365 book, it was to a private link that is password protected because the journaling is so personal.

So you could try that if you wanted to. I don't feel comfortable with that kind of thing "out there" which is why pictures of my kids stay here and at Shutterfly on the secure site.

The site you linked look like it only links to searches on flickr so yours came up. Do you have your photo tagged "sisters"? That would have pulled it up. I don't have anything current on flickr to check this out but it does seem like I could spend hours on the search site looking up "textures" "london" and other things I'm interested in.
To avoid your photos being picked up I wouldn't tag them and I would make them private.

ugh, the privacy stuff is so creepy! BTW, I didn't see any pictures when I clicked on your flickr link...

But sometimes I worry that I'm posting too many pics of my family. That even ONE pic is too much. That maybe some horrible pervert is out there, or a kidnapper, or something. It scares me and sometimes I think I should avoid the web entirely. I hate feeling that way.

Never heard of this site before but here is some information from them which should help you figure out Flickr settings to change so that they don't pull your photos as well as no other search engine pullers:

Flickr Hive Mind is a search engine as well as an experiment in the power of Folksonomies. All thumbnail images come directly from Flickr, none are stored on Flickr Hive Mind. These photos are bound by the copyright and license of their owners, the thumbnail links take to you to the photos (as well as their copyright and license details) within Flickr. Because some other search engines (Google, etc.) index parts of Flickr Hive Mind, you may have been led here from one of them. If you are a Flickr user and use Flickr Stats you may also have seen people being led to your photos via Flickr Hive Mind (as a Referrer). Flickr requires that I inform you that Flickr Hive Mind uses the Flickr API, but is neither endorsed nor certified by them. There are literally hundreds of other web tools built around the Flickr API, see Flickr Bits for a bunch of examples. If you are unhappy with your photos' presence on this site, you can (a) make your photos private for yourself, friends, and family. These settings will be instantly honored by Flickr Hive Mind and all other API-driven applications. (b) Hide your photos globally from text and tag searches on 3rd party sites that use the Flickr API, via your preference settings on Flickr. See the privacy tab at: http://flickr.com/account/. To also remove yourself from searches for specific user names, you will need to set your Flickr profile to be hidden from searches. (c) Finally, you can Banish Yourself From Flickr Hive Mind. To banish yourself from Flickr Hive Mind, you must first authenticate to Flickr, which lets Flickr Hive Mind identify who you are. Once logged in, come back to this area and there will be a link to banish you. If there are any problems email me at nosflickrhivemind ... at ... fiveprime ... dot ... org. (a few people with weird characters in their user names may have had problems)

i worry about this too. both here (most of my digi pages) and one other scrappy site (all my pages, digi, hybrid and traditional). and now that i'm blogging i worry about it.

i talked with dh about it and he said just google your name (and any variations of it) and you'll be shocked at how much info about you is public. and he said that he didn't think that having my pages out there would be any worse.

but i still worry.

On Flickr you are able to make your photos only viewable to the group members you join. You can also leave off any keywords to avoid being found in searches.
