Default Making the transition - Paper to digital - what about hybrid

Hi all,

I'm still working through this transition into the digital world and wondered if any of you still use "paper" embellishments to jazz up a digital layout or do you mostly stick to the digital in order to print in books? Do any of you still do the paper scrapping? Or is that just taboo to mention here? LOL I'm a bit fearful I may miss some of the hands on. . . did anyone else experience that?

Mostly likely, I'll finish up my second son's baby book the "old fashion" way - so that he and his brother have similar 1st year books. And since I've already started it. But after that, I think I'll be doing digital. Another idea is to scan in the pages I've already done. I have this huge fear of them getting damaged and like the idea of having a digital backup.

After all, think of all the storage space I can save after not having to store piles of paper and stickers and other things I'll never use!

I am very excited about "de-cluttering" my scrapbook side of life!

The tactile aspect of paper scrapping was very appealing to me, and I thought I would really miss it if I went digital. That turned out not to be the case. Digital is SO MUCH FUN!

I occassionally do a hybrid project but so seldom that I have finally begun the clearing out process of my paper products. Everything is so much easier with digital and there is no mess to clean up. When you are ready to stop, just save and turn off your computer. How much easier can that be?

First, welcome to digiscrapping, and Designer Digitals!!
I intended to do hybrid when I first discovered digital, but once I started I've never looked back. What Dorah says is perfect!!!

At first, I just dabbled in digital.

Then I decided to go completely digital for layouts, but still dabbled in cardmaking etc.

Now, I'm back to a mix of it all. I'm a waffler. I just go with whatever works for the moment.

I was a paper scrapper from way back and confess I still have a closet full of stuff that I can't bear to part with. But, I really don't know why I didn't go digital sooner. I would say it is much easier and more satisfying. You can be scrapping in the amount of time it takes your computer to load the software - no more wasted time getting organized before you really get working on a page. DD has such nice products and everyone is so helpful and talented - you will love it!

I do not want to scan in all my older pictures so my thoughts are that I will paper scrap my older pics and digi scrap my newer pics. But alas my older pics sit there unscrapped!!!

Thanks for all the feedback! I have been working through some of Cassie's tutorials (I'm shamelessly addicted already). And afterwards, I triumphantly show my husband "Look what I did!". He replies, "Wow and that only took you 30 minutes or so . . . it would have taken you that long to get everything out and put away let alone actual scrapping time" -- so even though switching my take a hit to our budget here and there to "restock" - I think he supports the efficiency and lack of mess - especially since he was an efficiency analyst!! I must have drove him crazy when I would spend a whole day handcutting letters with an exacto knife for a layout!

I also have quite a stock of stamps. I was thinking -- can I turn these into digital elements? I was thinking of stamping them on a transpancey, scanning them in and saving them. . . how does that work? Anyone know? (Of course, giving credit to the designer of the stamp when used . . . )
