Default Terms of use question

Hi, I have a strange question. I've read the terms of use and I'm not sure where this falls. I'm a teacher and I have a class webpage. If I create things for that page for my kids & classroom can I post it on the school website? The kids love to see themselves/work but the pictures just look so plain. I respect the work of the digi creators & I would never want to post improperly. Thanks for your help!

You should wait for one of he designers just to be sure, but I think it's fine as long as you credit the designer and store clearly on the webpage.

That is a fantastic question! I'm a teacher too and it's the kind of thing I've always wondered.

I found this response from Katie in another thread from a member that wanted to use products in her banner for an Etsy shop online:

"You can use the products to create your banner for Etsy provided you are not selling scrapbooking products and you have bought a photographers'/'S4O for the product. You may not use the products to create cards, templates etc for sale on etsy. HTH!"

sorry to be late to this thread!

I would consider a teacher's page to be a not-for-profit page and it would not require a photographer's license. And, of course, we would greatly appreciate credit to DesignerDigitals.com and our designers!

Thanks for asking!

Valeria, if they're older than say 3rd grade, you might ask a student! ;-)

I'm happy for my designs to be used by schools for educational purposes and non-profit use, as long as the designs are not being redistributed.

Exactly what Anna said! And as an educator myself, I know how tight those budgets are and how much teachers spend out of their own pockets. I applaud you for creating webpages for your students ... please feel free to use any of my product you would like with no additional license required.

So a corollary to this question:
I design brochures and flyers for the Women's Ministry at my church. Our events are not for fund raising and even if the event carries a user-fee it just offsets costs a bit. We never make money or even break even.

I would love to use some of the nice papers and elements from the DD designers in my brochures. Would this be a legitimate personal-use or do I need each designer's permission? Or does it fall in the prohibited category altogether?

Thanks,
Dottie

If you are designing the brochures as a volunteer and not being paid for your services then it is considered not-4-profit and is okay. If you are hired for your services then a photographer's license is required even if the company is a non-profit. HTH!

Thanks, Katie. That's very helpful. It has never occurred to anyone to pay me for this, and probably never will.

I appreciate the answers ladies. Last year I almost used a DD paper as a background for my class newsletter. At the last second I changed my mind (just in case). It's nice to know that this year I can...will make the newsletter writing (and hopefully reading) much nicer on the eyes!
