Default Cool Program

I've been fascinated with the actions that are available to create large collages, so I was thrilled when Shape Collage showed up in my RSS feed this morning.

It's an incredibly easy to use program that allows you to pick a bunch of pictures, and create a collage, in any shape you choose or create. Lots and lots of customization like size or color of borders, or photo orientation. You can save your creation as JPEG/PNG, or as a PSD (with each photo on it's own layer, if you want to tweak things slightly).

It runs on Mac/Windows/Linux. Best of all - it's free (donation ware).

I have no affiliation, just think it's a super cool program. Have fun!!!

Has anyone tried to put it into photoshop and then add a background page? I did and I had a huge white border-any idea how to just import the photo collage? I was thinking that this collage would be an awesome front page in an album-it would contain ALL the pics that are then scrapped

I haven't run Shape Collage under Windows (I assume you're using Windows since you're using ACDSee), but on the Mac, you choose the Appearance tab and set the background to Transparent then save as PSD (if you want to edit the layers in PS or elements) or PNG (if you just want the shape).

Looking at the other background options, you could include the paper as your background (choose "Photo"), but that would be a lot more restrictive.

MsP !
I ran the program and to have transparent background... save in "png" file - IF you are happy with layout and don't want to do anything else, but if you want to adjust for example to bring better photos on top... save in "psd" format, than it saves in layers (one word of cochin - I think Photoshop can have only so many layers... I know 200 for sure) so don't use to many photos...

Very nice, Maureen. It's really quite cool the different effects you can get by playing around with the settings - once I finally figured them out

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Once in a while Mac Gems really does find a Gem!

Thanks-a transparent background makes perfect sense!!! And also the hint that photoshop will only allow 200 layers-Good-it is the coolest thing I have ever seen!

I gave it a try-but I am so technologically challenged that I ended up just putting the pics where I wanted- I wanted WTC and it kept turning out too small!

I can't believe I missed this original post---this is SO NEAT!

I saw a collage of another scrapbooker's 365 pages on her blog, and I thought---wow, I bet it took forever to do that!

Well, nifty, now I can include 12X12 LO that's a preview of my Project 365 in my annual scrapbook for this year!

How did I miss the transparency part? I just did a red page for a PC swap and I can see I will be redoing it! Thank God for layers. ;-)

Love that collage of layouts. Shows that there are some busy bees here.
