Default Printing guides?

Hi everyone,

I have a layout with a white background and I print all my layouts on my own printer. Is it possible to include printing/cutting guides on layout so I'm able to trim it to the correct size. I normally have color as a background so I trim the layouts easily but a white background has got me stumped. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Kris.

I believe it will depend on your printer. My printer allows me to tell it if I want it to print a bounding box or crop marks. Check all your printer settings and you may find it there.

Another option if it doesn't would be to create a new layer on top and select your entire page and do a very thin stroke around it and then with the eraser could erase all but the corner sections or leave the entire stroke there so you have a line when you print it.

I've done this several times and it does work if you are careful to cut just inside the thin lines.

I sometimes just stick masking tape on my cutter so I will know just where to line my paper up ... for large projects this is easier for me.

Kris,
When the print window opens in photoshop there will be output options to the right. One of the output options is to print with corner crop marks. It should print these no matter what printer you use. I use the corner crop marks all of the time and they work great!!

I have a screen shot of the printing window here Hope this helps!

When I have printed white, I have been able to see it since it was a tad different color than my paper. But it sounds like there are some other options, which I definitely need to write down for future!

Hi Erica,

I was unable to view the link you provided. Said it was a private page.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on printing guides.

Cheers
Kris.
