PLEASE, Please, please remember that this is really a beta and that it is the first version of the beta out to the public. WHICH means any tagging or keywording or organization should be on copies of files and may not transfer to the final version. This is really and truly just a way for them to get feedback from a broader group about how the software works. Be very cautious using it.

This are the official warnings and also straight from the lead developer's email to me a few weeks ago.

I got this in the email and noticed the the warnings. I'd probably make copies of the files I wanted to use and keep the originals safely away from the program. I wish I could spend time on it - hope the feedback is good.

ok, just removed my earlier beta version (was on the User Group to do early evaluation of the Beta), downloaded, installed and registered the public Beta. All smooth as glass. It even picked up the keyword I entered on a few DD products in my testing. So if this is an indicator, this is gonna be great. Still, you're taking your own risks if you invest too much time in key wording in the beta and it doesn't transfer. I'm a risk taker.

Yes, I received the same email this morning. I downloaded, installed and opened it.

Now, will somebody please tell me what the purpose of this software is? Is it just to view my photos? I like new toys, but I also like to know why they are supposed to be so wonderful....

Ah, and I see that ACDSee will open iPhoto libraries, which could be a problem-- if you change something in your iPhoto library using an application other than iPhoto, you may just unleash an apocalypse of problems for yourself. I hope I am not overstating the potential seriousness of the problem.... it probably doesn't mean the end of the world, probably....

Well, bearing in mind Patricia's warning, and my warning, let's have some fun!

So.... I've been looking at my stuff with ACDSee, but I can't seem to drag a file from ACDSee to PSE. Is there some way to do that? Now I really don't get the point of this software.... I know some of you just rave about it, so what am I missing?

ok, MISSY!! This is a BETA, an early BETA. They have it set to very limited functions. In the final version you will be able to drag, keyword, search....all the magic everybody was used to on a PC. AND iPhoto is still working great to do all that. The final version of ACDSee for Mac will not be ready til the fall.
