Default Lightroom Question

I am still trying to figure out Lightroom. The photos from the last two times I uploaded through Lightroom say that they are missing or offline. Does anyone know what I need to do so they are accessible through Lightroom without having to import them one by one?

Janet, that happened to me twice. I figured out that it was because my compact flash card was in the reader and Lightroom was trying to access the photos I wanted to see from there, not from the EHD I wanted to get them from.
So I ejected the card reader and everything was fine.
Maybe it's something similar with you?

yeah I import direct to Lr so I dont know exactly, its got to do with what kerry says. it looks in one place only, it will not search for them.
And I do know if you later move your photos around on your Hard drive, Lr will tell you they are missing...
you can go find them and all but sheesh, I wish somebody had told me before I moved over 200 photos!!!

Or maybe you imported them to a drive which is now turned off. Check the Last Imported spot in Library Mode (on the left side under the small image of the photo. Then click the image then right click then click show in finder.

Learning curve...but truly worth it.
Let us know.

Thanks girls. I guess it was because I moved a few files because, when I uploaded them, they went to a strange location. I selected grid in library mode (just press g). Then selected a photo. Then clicked on the question mark. It asked if I wanted to locate the file. A list of my files came up and I clicked on that file and it worked. The only problem is I have two huge batches of photos and I don't know how to move them all at once. I guess if you want to move things around I have to do it through Lightroom. I will have to figure out that, now.

Thanks a lot for your help!

If you are using LR ONLY move your photos threw LR or you will relinking them! There is a link to Matt K's Killer LR Tips in another thread that addresses this specifically. When I get a chance I'll link you to it Janet

I could use that link too. I did the same thing as Janet and have to locate all my pics again. Now I follow the tips by Scott Kelby, he knows what he is doing I made a new folder and all my pics go in there and at the same time to my EHD for backup
