It's something that happens when you see it in the gallery. For some reason, no matter how many times you look at in on the screen, until then typos are invisible

I also see the typos after I print out a layout on my home printer. Then it stares me right in the face! At least with the screen copy you can replace it with a corrected version. I don't keep the layered files, but, I don't delete them until a layout has been posted in the gallery for a day or two. I'm hoping someone will alert me if I've missed a typo.

At my former job we published a newsletter and when we proofed the copy we were told to start at the end and work our way back to the beginning staring at the type in reverse order. It forces you to concentrate on looking at the type.

I want to know what's different about proof reading from a screen and on paper as I also only see typos when I've printed them.

Netleigh, I think it's hilarious that you edited your post because of a typo! ROFL

Of course, I've now had to edit my own post because I spelled Netleigh's name wrong. Stop the madness!

I experience exactly the same thing--and I have actually made my living as a copy editor and as a teacher of copy editing. I no longer expect myself to mark up a book for publication, I would at least like to have layouts without GLARING typos! But . . . scrapbooking is a folk art, and typos are what we folk create.

It happens to me all the time, too. BUT I take the opportunity to make the correction and repost. At least I'm catching most of the typos before I print...it really irritates me when I pay for a print and then find the typo!

My MIL calls to let me know about spelling errors or grammatical errors when I post a page I just have to make the effort to re-open the page & make the changes!

I don't usually notice my typos until I've uploaded the pages to Shutterfly. After all that pain in the tail, THEN I find them! And have to correct them, re-load them . . . etc . . . etc. Aargh!

ha! I think we've all been fallible to this. When my family history book came back from Shutterfly the first page I opened to, wham! There was a typo. Aaarrggghhh.

How would you like to order a book from Shutterfly that was supposed to be titled Ashevillle, North Carolina and not notice until it arrived in the mail that you had titled it Asheville, GA, instead!! Grrrrr!

I had carefully proofed it for typos and carefully made sure vivid pics was turned off, etc. etc. and never caught the mistake in geography!

Yup, me too Carol! Don't know what it is about the screen...but I do know that having your DH proof your pages is not a good idea!

The question is why, why, why doesn't Photoshop have a spell checker? I made typos on our Christmas cards last year.

Now I type first in Word so it's spell checked and then copy and paste into my layout. I still manage to sneak in some mistakes, but not as many.

I'm with you Amy. I do my credits in a word doc, and then cut and paste my journaling in to that doc to check for spelling errors. Then I can go change them on the LO. I'm a shocking speller, so there are always mistakes. Im sure that my posts here have stacks of typos too.

I had a Shutterfly book which I made for a gift, show up with a glaring typo! So, I reordered the book and my gift cost twice what I was planning on spending. It seems easier to catch someone else's typo than your own sometimes.

If you right click on the type in Photoshop there is a spell checker but I rarely think about using it. I make so many typos and try to fix them but always find some missed after uploading.
Everyone does it...it's just one of those things. I usually don't notice other's either..LOL!

oh no, Merr!! Well, NC...GA...well, geographically, they're pretty close, LOL!! I'm notorious for typos and grammatical errors, too. My last print, three of the five had typos in them!! LOL! It's awful!

Amy - there is a spell check in PS! Somebody here told me about it - it's under the Edit menu. Now that I know it's there, my problem is remembering to use it!

Ooops... ummm... it took me a moment to catch it as well. Living in GA and just having gone to Asheville, it all seemed to fit perfectly for me too.

I try to catch any typos before printing and thankfully we have a great community here who actually read our journaling and give us a heads up if we do have a typo. If a typo makes it to print for me, I figure it is just an added piece of my personality in it because I certainly am not a perfect speller so it just gives a glimpse of the mistakes I tend to make.

Why? It's the same reason as when you finally go through your purse and chuck the old receipts of things that you know "you will have no reason to return" that your daughter the very next hour asks, "Mom do you have the receipt for. . ." Of course you didn't throw it away at home in the trash where you could salvage it but when you were out running errands.

There some "law" about these things I think. . . they just happen! Wasn't there a layout around here called "Why?" We could add typos, thrown out receipts and many more things to the list.

If you are working in the full version of PS it does have a spell checker I just always forget to use it Edit/Check spelling (I think, not at my own computer today!)

Oops, I guess I should have read the entire thread first, Paula mentioned it already!!

Using the spell checker is even easier to use than I realized - just right click your text and the option is right there... but yes, now to remember to use it!

I don't usually notice mine until after they are posted. Sometimes I go back and correct them and sometimes I leave them alone. I figure they are just another hint at who I am as an person.
