Default Can we talk wedding albums?

I foolishly HERE thought out loud about doing a wedding album for our 15th anniversary that is coming up this summer and everyone said I should do it. LOL!

So, I need to think about this. If I did it, I think I'd want to use the same background paper for each page. What do you think?

And would it be too boring to do in white? Or maybe black?

And I know I'd want to tell the story with a lot of journaling. So maybe design it with 2-pagers - the photo(s) on one side and the journaling on the other?

What do you think? And pretty please, link me up to any wedding pages you've done! Thanks!!!

I haven't done any digi wedding pages myself, Steph, but I see many of them at my scrapbooking store. To me it works really well if you make it coherent--and all of the ideas you've got here would do that. I don't think either white or black (or both) would be boring), but you may get bored. So create yourself a wide enough palette so you don't mind sticking to it page after page.

I love the one that you posted today on the white background . . . I really can't picture it on black. Ummmm . . . you could always go kraft! {Wait until Katrina chimes in on the background color.} LOL

You have such a good eye Steph, that whatever you do will be just wondrerful!

I think a consistent background paper ties your book together so well. It makes it a little tedious to put together when you get to page 15 or so, but so worth it in the end.

I like the white idea since you probably can't do it on brown kraft

Black would be stunning as well but a little trickier then with journaling. I have a few wedding pages I did for an album for a client/friend. I'll pm you a link.

But then look at the fabulous NY album that Tara did. It was all the same colour background and looked sensational. I like the idea of the consistent background, it will gel so much better as a complete album. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hi Steph,
I'm working on a wedding album at the moment. My son was married in February. I'm just making it up as I go along but I'm using Jessie Edwards, "clean and serene" paper kit as my base. It's not too fussy because I don't want to detract from the photos. I have been blending the bouquet into the corners of some of the pages to bring in some continuity. I've done three so far. Here is the first one and if you go to my gallery you can see the rest.

Susie, your page is beautiful! Yes, Stephanie, I think a white background would be beautiful throughout the album. I love the page you posted today.

Oh my gosh, Susie, that is stunning!!!! Would you mind if I lifted you for a cover page?!

One of the things that holds me back is that our wedding photos are horrible. I've never liked them and I so wish we had been able to afford a better photographer, but we just couldn't. Maybe doing an album will make me feel a bit better about them.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I need to catch up with my Project 365 album and then I think I'm going to do this!

Steph, I've done 2 wedding albums...my own & one for my best friend. For my best friend's I used a solid brown & for mine I used a cream with a pinkish border...the paper just came that way. You can see both of them in my gallery, under 'albums' to see what you think.
I think a solid white would be great...one of Anna Aspnes 'Mono Blenz Paperie' papers would work beautifully

Steph, you are inspiring me to do mine as well....I think a consistent background would be best. I like the idea of Jesse's clean and serene papers, could be a little different for each one but still consistent.
Susie, that is a stunning layout. I also really enjoyed looking at Heidi's albums!!
The daunting thing for me is scanning in all my photos. We couldnt afford a great photographer either, so ours were from photog hobbiest friends of ours. I cant wait to see what you come up with

I am also thinking of doing a wedding album. My 10 anniversary is in a couple of weeks and like many of you our pictures are not the best but I am thankful to have some Jesse's clean and serene are beautiful and I think they would make great backgrounds. I am interested to see what everyone comes up with.

hi Steph,
I say include as much journaling as possible, even if it takes a whole page for each photo. Those memories are priceless and your kids and family will want to read them! I think simple is best for wedding albums; I love white and black, or taupe and black, or cream and brown...or a mixture of it all. Your pages always look clean and let the photos shine anyway so it seems to me that your style will be perfect for a wedding album! I don't know if it's important to have every page match. Maybe it's more important to keep it clean and simple and just let the pics dictate the paper colors. It will be cohesive naturally b/c of theme anyway! Just my 2 cents.

Naturally I have not digi-scrapped my own wedding album; I have a paper one that is JUST pics and text...it was my very first scrapbook of any kind. When I look back at it now, I'm so glad I included all the text b/c I have all those little special details that I remember NOW, reading it, but would never have recalled if I didn't write it down.

Sorry I don't have pages to show as samples, but I am SURE you will make a lovely album...I can't wait to see the pages!

I agree with going with a coherent theme for the book. I used three different, but very similar, papers for my 70+ page book about our holiday in Italy last year. It was a total pain to make the last 20 or 30 or so pages but now that I look through it I am so happy I stuck to it.

Depending on the style of the wedding, I'd say choose papers that enhance the feeling of the day. If you had a super romantic wedding then I think the papers mentioned work perfectly.

Be my guest, Steph. You know you can do a lot with photos to make them more appealing. I used the Coffee Shop Powder Room action on some because Fiona has freckles she doesn't like and also turning them into B/W looks good if you don't like the colors. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
