Default Speaking of fonts and alphabets...

I'm not fond of the idea of having to make a new layer for each letter of an alphabet set I buy. Do the designers here sell FONTS instead that are added to the text options and if so, how do you use them/load them?

I believe at the moment, the only font in the store is Mindy's Scratched Up font which is totally adorable!

I am on a Mac so for me, it was simply double clicking on the font and telling it to install. I am not sure anymore how to do it on a Windows machine but I am sure that it isn't very difficult.

Dafont.com offers a lot of free fonts that you can supplement your pages with.

I know that alphas can be overwhelming at the beginning but once you are a little more comfortable with how do to everything, I am sure you will fall in love with all of the advantages that alphas can give your design over fonts. Working with them will become just as easy as adding a piece of paper here or there.

Once you have them positioned the way you want, you can easily merge them together and then only have 1 layer to work with, or group them together which makes them a single folder in your layer list and then they all move together but are still able to ungroup and move individually.

Heather, I just made my first page ever with alphabets, and I have to admit, while I love the effect, it was really time-consuming to cut out and copy all the unique letters in "Cards vs. Nationals"! Thank goodness for the repeating "a"s! Since I don't frequently title my pages, it's not such a big deal to me. But seeing how nice the letters looked (I used the chipboard alpha in Katie's Naturally Krafty Christmas kit) I was really impressed. I've got to remember I have those in my supply bin! And the good thing is . . . they never run out!

You can download lots of free fonts on the web. I'm pretty sure there was a recent thread about favorite fonts. You might do a search and see what some good fonts to download will be.

Here's a link about installing fonts:

If you want you can get your own hand writting made into a font. Our very own Bailey a.k.a Starlite9711 has her own shop. Check it out HERE.

Have you tried using the alphabet brushes? Then you can do it all on one layer. Not sure if that is what you are talking about--but having myself used the letters individually before I knew how to install and use the brushes, I just want to point that out in case. ;-)

You can use the sets as stamps (and then you would use each on a layer) or as a brush (the abr file) and they can all go on one layer--and you can change the color and the size. LOVE alphabet brushes because they are most like the rubber stamps that I used on paper pages. ;-)
