Default Lightroom 2 automatically closing?

Any of you girls might know why my Lightroom 2 (installed about 3 weeks ago) is starting and immediately closing. I was just using it yesterday with no problems... any suggestions?

Have you installed anything since yesterday when it was working fine?

Have you checked to make sure that you have enough hard drive space and aren't running other programs which may be hogging memory usage that it needs to use?

I think you mentioned in another thread, you are using a PC not a Mac, is that correct?

Are you on Vista? If so, here is the Adobe troubleshooting Lightroom system errors knowledge base article which will try to walk you through basic checks to more advanced - ie) what their technical support are going to ask you to do if you end up calling them.

Good luck!

Nope... haven't installed a thing

I know I have plenty of hard drive and memory. I run Adobe the internet and lightroom 2 together all the time? I try to keep everything on my EHD so I don't clog it up. We have a 500G hard drive and 4G memory?

And nope I am on Windows XP...

I am about to take that webinar Photoshop class... but after that I am going to restart my computer and see if that works. I guess after that I am headed to tech support?

Restarting seems to always be my favorite course of action when having problems... and used to do it a lot on Windows. I have found it helps when I have run into problems with CS4 when I open too many photos at once and it spills over in memory usage.

Here is the Windows XP knowledge base article.

You should be able to go through the first couple pretty quickly and I would think that doing the recreating the preference file (#5) might likely be your problem if nothing on your system has changed since yesterday.

Good luck.

You may also want to make sure you've updated to LR2.3.

Gee... I can't keep up... I just installed it and there is already an upgrade! I did restart and that worked. I will do the upgrade hopefully that will help too.
Thanks ladies!

sometimes things just get really whacky and restarting seems to solve a lot of the bugs... My PS was going nuts the other day, totally strange and the restart healed the poor little thing.
How are you liking the webinar? I purchased the classes, it seems that I always have to pick the kids up right in the middle of something really interesting. Amazing how little I really know about the program

I am really liking the classes. Luckily it is at a really good time for me... but i did purchase the downloads because I wanted to be able to go back and I like the notes =) I feel like I am really learning the behind the scenes stuff =) I am really excited for the pen tool class and the retouching! Very cool stuff!
