Default New to digital scrapping...best software?

Hi everyone! I have decided to start dabbling in the world of digital scrapbooking to compliment my paper scrapping. I am curious what different softwares people use to create their art? I have photoshop elements (older version) but I'm willing to purchase something else if there is something better out there.

Please share with me what you use, and why.

Thank you so much! You all have such beautiful creations!!

Happy Scrapping,

Kelli

Hi Kelli and welcome! I started with Photoshop Elements and then moved on to Photoshop CS3. I think Photoshop Elements is a wonderful program; one of the best values ever for me considering what I was able to learn from it.

Hi, Kelli! Welcome to DD.

What version of PSE are you using? That software is excellent for scrapbooking. The Photoshop software does allow you to do a few more things (text on a path, stroke paths, layer masks) that PSE doesn't have, but I think the majority of people stick with PSE because it is a much more affordable program.

We have a Getting Started section here on the site, along with a Knowledge Base (FAQ) to help answer your questions.

If you want to go a step further and learn some more in-depth techniques and tricks for getting the most out of PSE or PS, check out the tutorials in the store. There are many to choose from, but if you're just starting out, I recommend the Getting Started: Your First Layout tutorial.

Let us know if you ever have any questions!

Hi Kelli! Welcome to Designer Digitals!

Cassie's tutorials are really really helpful and they are for both beginners and experienced scrappers alike!

I use PSE 4.0 on my Mac. I'm going to upgrade to the latest version 6.0 of PSE soon. I am very happy with PSE and feel like I haven't begun to come close to exploring everything it can do.

Welcome!
I use PSE 6 on a PC, and I agree exactly with Merrilee, about how much there is to do with PSE, and about Cassie's tutorials!

Welcome, I use PSE 7 and I am just beginning to learn all the things it can do and I have been using this program since October when I started digi-scrapping too!

It is so fun on any program you choose. My daughter has a different program and she loves it too! But it is just scrapbooking, no bells and whistles.

I, too, have to encourage you to use Cassie's tutorials. I have been scrapping for about a year and a half and everytime I read one of her tutorials I learn new things and great short cuts. It's a great way to explore everything Photoshop Elements can do for you.

Welcome to dd. We have a great group of ladies here who give such positive feedback. I hope you love it as much as I do.

H Kelli,
So glad you have decided to join us at DD — THE best and friendliest digi site I use Adobe CS at home and CS2 at work, and am about to upgrade to CS4 — but that's because I need to use Illustrator and Indesign too. I would think that the other ladies here would definitely give you the best advice as to the most cost effective way to indulge this addiction that we all share
Looking forward to seeing your pages in the gallery

Welcome to DD. So glad you're here. I have CS2 and PSE7, and usually find myself using PSE7 the most. I guess I'm just more comfortable with that. By the way, Costco was having a great special price on PSE7 a month or so ago. Maybe they still are.
