Default 12 Step Recovery Program for Web Addicts

I don't usually forward things I get in my email, but this one sounded just like me and I thought some of you might also relate.

12 STEP PROGRAM FOR WEB ADDICTS
1. I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my PAPER newspaper like I used to, before the Web
2. I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing.
3. I will get dressed before noon.
4. I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan dinner before even thinking of the Web.
5. I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends and family that are Web-deprived.
6. I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via the Web.
7. I will read a book... if I still remember how.
8. I will listen to those around me about their needs and stop telling them to turn the TV down so I can hear the music on the Web.
9. I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.
10. I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is necessary or not.
11. I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance my checkbook because I was too busy on the Web.
12. Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime... and the Web will always be there tomorrow!

Raise your hand if you would gladly give up TV to keep your high speed internet connection. (me! me! me! - not that I would do it voluntarily, I'm just sayin.)

I remember the day that I got high speed many years ago now. It was one of my personal best days. Ever.

Oh boy...I needed to hear that! I told myself in the morning I need to get at least 2 or 3 things done on my list before I touch my computer. I am laughing at the breakfast because I usually have a bagel in one hand and the mouse in the other =)

Lynnie, being retired with no children around, I can relate to most of the things on that list! You can add another one:
- I will not buy so many pj's that look suspiciously like day wear pants and tops!

Anke...that sounds like me!!! Love the "dinner? I haven't really thought about it yet" one. That is me almost every day! If dinner would just magically appear with a few keystrokes of my computer I would be all set!!

Guilty as charged on this one! If I am showered and wearing clean "comfy pants & top", that counts as being dressed, right??

Umm... did this! and you know what.. you really don't give up as much as you might think as a lot of tv is available through the networks directly and hulu. Would NEVER voluntarily give up the internet connection but the cable tv has minimally affected what we can and can't watch.. I am just now a little behind in the times depending on which network a program is on as some have a few hour delay or a day or week before their programs go to online viewing. But overall, I now have $50-$60 extra a month to spend on other things and still watch most of the shows I used to.

About TV, I wouldn't need any of it if it weren't for hubby. We mostly use Netflix anyway, but he needs his news fix
