Default Scanner

I hope I did not miss a thread, but I would really like some advice on which scanner to purchase. I only have an older HP all in one which doesn't want to work for me anymore and the scans were never the best, it doesn't give me a lot of options. I have a t.o.n. of old pics I would like to scan and I don't want to ruin them. any advice? Thanks!

Anke ... I have an Epson 4490 and I like it very much. My previous scanner was an HP and it was great also. Not much help here, am I?

I can't imagine that scanners could be that different ... to me they are just basic ... all do the same thing. Sort of like a washing machine!

LOL Mollie! Actually even in washing machine there are differences, I just got one that heats the water before the wash, love it. But besides that point I appreciate your input, Epson is supposed to be such a good brand.

I like my Canon MP610 scanner, printer and copier.

I also have an Epson scanner for scanning slides. I like it, too.

I have the HP 4850 and I love it. I've scanned all my mom and dads old photos and slides (it also scans negatives) and they turned out great. I use it all the time to scan those little things (boy scout badges, tickets, etc) to add to my pages.

I used to have an HP scanner, but it did not perform well. I replaced it several years ago with an Epson Perfection 3200, and it has been reliable from day one. I liked its heavier glass, and it was recommended by photography professionals at that time. If I had to replace my scanner, I would look again to Epson.

Anke, I have the Epson Perfection V200 Photo. Only about $100 and I have never been disappointed in it.
