Default Caught in a maze

I'm trying to learn this site really well because in my opinion it's the hands down best of all the digi scrapping sites. That said, I feel a little bit lost, as in a maze. Perhaps I can make it clear and some kind person on the board can take me by the end and lead me to the way out!

Ok, here's the problem: I suspect that there are two ways of viewing the gallery. Is this true? In one view, you see the layouts but you don't see any of the details such as the products used or the designer's comments on her work. In the other way, you see the layout, the comments, the products used, and those nice buttons that allow you to save a layout in your favorites. This morning, looking at the gallery from home, I can see none of these things. Later, at work, I think I'm going to be able to see them all. So what's the diff? I've combed through the FAQ and tried to find ways to alter my profile so I get the view I want, but so far no luck. Imagine how happy I will be when this is solved! YOU could bring this happiness to me. Just tell me how to get out of the maze. Thanks so much!

Welcome! And yep, I agree this is best of the best!!

When you look at the gallery it defaults to the smaller views of many layouts. If you want to see the detail you can click on a page for a larger view. When you are in the larger view mode there are arrows on the far left and far right below it (where the filmstrippy photos are) that will take you through the gallery in the larger view.

Hope this helps!

Another thing you could try is to go underneath the thumbnails on the right hand side it gives you the option of viewing pictures for 1 day. When you click on that the thumbnails will have a little more info underneath them and it will show you all the LOs submitted during the last 24 hours

Katrina's right . . . when you first click on the GALLERY in the upper toolbar, you will get the default small views of the newest layouts . . . there will be twelve of them. If you navigate to the lower right layout, just below it on the right side there are a couple of lines and on the second line you will see "recent layouts" ... I click on ALL and you will then see a larger grouping of the layouts with some data below each one. Then like Katrina said, you can click on each individual layout to see the products and comments for that one.

Welcome and I think what you might be missing and why you won't see all of those extras like add to favorites at home but do at work is that you are logged in at work but not at home. Go to the top of the site when you are in the gallery and check to make sure that it says "Welcome, cheska99". If not, sign in and you should see all of the buttons under the layouts again like at work.

Thanks for all your suggestions, but I'm still mystified. It says I'm logged in at home. (I do see the "welcome cheska99"), but I can't see the details of the layouts. At work, it all works like a charm. I'm thinking maybe it's some other kind of setting, but I can't imagine what it is. I also find that although I've posted my picture in my profile, it doesn't show with my posts (depriving you all, I might say, of the marvelous sight of my a little more than slightly worn face). Maybe I should just set up a new account and see if that comes out better?

when i want to see the statistics 0f each page, i get to that by clicking on "view 7 days" or something like that, at the bottom right. Then, if I want to see a page bigger, i click on the page, which then takes me to the place where i can save it into "favorites." i know what you mean about being in a maze! i've been on this site for about 2 years, and i can't figure out how to access a specific person's gallery, unless they leave a comment. from their comment i can get to their gallery. but to just find a certain person's gallery, forget it. i think it has something to do with how my brain processes things.... (just to confuse me even more, when i choose the number of pages i want to appear on each page, after i change the number i'm taken to a gallery that isn't even the regular gallery! i have no idea what THAT gallery is. i have to then click on "gallery" up at the top of the page to be taken to the regular gallery.) so, you are not alone! heehee....

note: the Search function I labeled as "not here" lets you search the forums.
The circled one lets you search the gallery

Sara, I have a question - how do you find someone's gallery when you only know their real name - not their username?

Rebecca, if they are a designer, each of the designers have their own gallery.
If it's a friend, um? Call them and ask them their username?! LOL!

You could try to guess their username or even type in their first or last name into the search function. If you are lucky, they've used at least part of their real name in the user name
I just tried it with sara and everyone who has sara as part of their username came up (sarahbcmc, champsarahjoy, sarahtuby, etc...)

Whatnext, you made me laugh--and here's why. When I posted a query earlier about blending, someone suggested I should check out the whatnext gallery--or that's what I thought she said. It took me a long time to figure out that there is no whatnext gallery but there is a poster called "whatnext" and that her gallery is a great place to look at blending examples. And now here you are confessing to your own confusion. Anyway--I did indeed finally track down your gallery (couldn't possibly say how I did it) and LOVED it. Indeed I wanted to put some into my favorites, so I . . . and that's how I discovered the favorites problem.

I have another tip to view a specific persons gallery, if you click on a layout and decide you want to see their whole gallery, click on the small icon of photos under their username and location (on the left hand side)

This cracks me up. . . it's all in how you started. It's the first way I learned to view a gallery and the only way I've done it since. Kind of like learning a new town. . . "who knew I only had to drive 3 miles to the mall rather than six if I just went straight instead of turning at the light!" lol I love that we learn from each other no matter how long we've been here.

Oh Kelly, you are so right!!! I kept doing it by turning at the light and even asked Randy during the chat if he could tell me how to do it. He asked me to send him a message about it and I was just looking around and yes, there was that short straight path!!! welcome cheska99!! I think this is the other wonderful thing about DD. Just ask and so many wonderful people will respond!!
