Angry Bought a printer

OKAY....SO I DIDN'T GO WITH THE MAJORITY VOTE...THE EPSON...WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN...WELL I DID BUT TO THE WRONG PEOPLE....THE GUY AT STAPLES SAID HE SO KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT AND TALKED ME INTO THE HP PRO K8600. COMPARED TO THE LASER, I WANT THE LASER BACK...THE HP IS MORE TRUE TO COLOR, BUT IT'S NOT AS CRISP AND IT HAS LINES GOING THRU THE PAGE..CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THAT. I'M SURE STAPLES WON'T TAKE THIS ONE BACK TOO...MY HUSBAND SAYS I HAVE TO MAKE THIS ONE WORK...I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE FRUSTRATED...I GUESS IF I CAN GET THE LINES TO DISAPPEAR...OH AND EVERYTIME I PRINT I HAVE TO GO THRU AND USE A DIFFERENT PROGRAM TO OPEN THE PICTURE BECAUSE IF I JUST HIT PRINT IT WILL PRINT JUST A FEW DOTS ON THE PAPER.....UGH...SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED...

Sorry, I can't help, but your day sounds like mine! I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I know it is extremely frustrating, especially when you shell out big bucks for poor quality. Hoping some one can help here!

Why do you think Staples wouldn't take it back? Do you have the receipt?
Have you tried to find the utilities program that goes with the printer? You might want to try to clean the print heads if you're seeing lines.
Also, try HP's help forums. Maybe you can find some info there.

Good luck!

If you aren't happy with it, I'd try to take it back.

Yep, sounds like you just need to clean the print heads.

Well, when I look at online reviews of this printer, it doesn't get the best reviews. Not bad, but certainly not the best. The lines could be simply because it's new and they may go away after the print heads have been cleaned and it's printed off a few photos. But, if it was me, I would return it (if you've got the receipt, they should absolutely take it back) and maybe order something else online.

Good luck!!!

I agree - it shouldn't need the print heads cleaning when it's brand new. Take a deep breath and take it back and get an Epson LOL :-)

Also check to make sure that you have the page "setup" accurate. My Epson prints lines on pictures when I have text or image choosen as what I'm printing oppose to Best quality image which is what I always use for printing LO's.

I would take it back. If they have a problem with that, I'd get the store manager and show him the lousy lined pages you've printed. I've never heard of Staples not letting you return something.

I went on line to look at reviews, they were so so. It's also an HP office jet, not a HP photosmart. It's classified as a workgroup printer, you want a photosmart printer. I don't think you'll ever get the results you want with that printer. If you decide to stay with HP you'll definately want a photosmart, that will get you the results. I have the HP Photosmart Pro B8850 and I love it. It is my second wide format HP printer (both photosmarts). I know that the Epson are good as well. I'd do a bit of research on line first ... I think some of those guys in the stores are just trying to sell something, not what would be best for you. Sounds like this guy fits that type. I'd definately take it back.

Just take it back, if you have the receipt, there shouldn't be a problem. If it were me, I would just make sure that the same guy you dealt with wasn't working when I brought it back....lol!!!

I would go for one of the Epsons that uses UltraChrome pigment ink.
I think the new Artisans use Claria (dye) ink.
