Question Buying a printer

Staples has agreed to take my printer back. I bought a brother laser and bought it for the sole purpose of scrapbooking....not a good choice. It shows wheel (?) marks and the color isn't true. Does anyone have any suggestions on what printer to buy? Laser or inkjet?
Thanks
Tanya

I am so happy with my Canon MP 610. (There's probably a newer model out now. I got mine a little over a year ago.)

I'm really happy with the printer I bought last year. It's the HP Photosmart C5180 All in one.

And I love my Epson R1800, but there are newer versions of this printer now. I've had mine a couple of years.

I'm partial to the Epson R1800 and the Epson R1900. They are pigment ink, inkjet printers.

LOL at you, Michele!

I've really liked my Kodak. The ink is so reasonable and the prints are beautiful.

I have a canon 470, I think that's right, that I got on clearance at wm. I love it. It prints absolutely beautiful photos that look exactly like what I took them of.

Another vote for the R1800. I have heard lots of great things about the R1400 too.

Default Printers

So far it's the epson....I wonder why the guy at staples said a laser would be better...probably because he didn't know what he was talking about....so ink jet is the better choice? and should I consider a 12 x 12 printer or stick with the 8 x printer?

I've been doing lots of research on printers. I'm going with the Canon Pixma Pro 9500. (I think it's the upgrade of the 9000). This received the PC Mag editor choice awards. I've heard of a few people who were quite displeased with their epsons (my SIL, being one of them). So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Canon, haven't heard anyone complain about them. The ink & paper run a bit more though. But I'm planning to still use my HP Photosmart D7300 for any 8.5x11 or under printing. (I love this printer by the way).

I have an older Epson - the R320 and it has never, ever had a problem. The photos are better than lab photos that I've gotten from Mpix and other pro and semi-pro labs. I don't think I'd ever go with anything other than an Epson. And, yes, you want an ink jet.

Mine is not a 12 x 12 printer - if I print my pages at home, I print them at 8.5 x 8.5 and put them in 9" albums. If I had the space, I would definitely get a 12 x 12, though.

BTW I have 12X12 and seem to only print 8X8 (great idea about the 8.5X8.5) because 12X12 paper is hard to find. I seem to only be able to find it on the internet. I would look into that before you decide.

I'm very interested to hear opinions on printers too! My Canon i9100 is probably going to die on me very soon. I'm getting a message saying the used ink tank is almost full. When I checked out all the FAQs, troubleshooting info sights, it appears that this is a built in obsolescence issue. The tank is just a sponge that fills up with excess ink and cannot be replaced, so right now I'm not about to replace my printer with another Canon, although I have been very happy with the print quality, etc.
I'm leaning toward the Epson wide format and so would love to know what issues people have had with them/

I have an Epson 2200 and an R1800, both of which I love. They're older printers, though. If I were buying today, I'd probably get one of Epson's Artisan printers.

Make sure you get a wide-format that can also print borderless on 12x12 paper. And if you can get one with separate matte black & glossy black ink cartridges, you won't have to worry with swapping out the back depending on what you're printing (like on my 2200).
