Question Question about handwriting brushes I've seen on layouts.

Hi there! I have seen a lot of this in the gallery here. For example, you use one of Ali's everyday brushes that say, "everyday."

BUT it looks like it is black with a white background so it stands out against a darker paper or photo. How do you do this?

I know the answer has to be easier than I am making it out to be. Do you make a white version slightly bigger than the black version and then put the black version on top?

Thank you in advance!

You need to go to Edit>Stroke, choose white as the colour and then choose the size that you think looks best

get it to the size you want it to be.
set your foreground color to white.
under Edit, about 1/2 way down the flyout menu, you'll see "stroke (outline) selection"
select outside, and try 10, 15, 20, etc. pixels width until you get the look you desire.

(instructions are for PSE 5.0)

Also, FYI, the tutorial is more flexible than using the stroke method. It gives you a lot of options for customizing your "sticker."
