Default Help finding this info on this technique...

]I just love this LO by readstoomuch,

http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...ll&limit=last1

and she mentions that the sketch technique was introduced to her by rubia some time ago. I tried searching but can't find any info on it, where can I find out how to reproduce this effect?
TIA

This is the layout of Rubia's (DeAnna) technique that started it all:

I remember it more as an outline technique and that is how I found this thread:
De Anna Outline Technique
Cool isn't it?!

readstoomuch (Mollie) is a pro at this technique. I remember her doing this layout as well:

I have looked for Deanna's post telling how she did her page too. Can't find it!

I will try my best to show you how to do what I did for my page. It really is not hard at all . . . just takes a bit of time . . . some trial and error. The final look is totally up to you. You can make it heavy with sketch lines or light. I have a couple of others in my gallery using this that might give you some idea of other results. And, I know that there are other people that have used it too. Look over Deanna's (rubia) gallery and you will probably see hers too (unless they have been published which is entirely possible).

Thanks for the compliment! Give me a day or two and I will post something in this forum.

Edited: Kris must have posted her answer just as I was writing my answer. I haven't read the thread that Kris found just yet, but am sure that it is the one that I used. Thanks Kris!
Here is the companion page to the one that Kris posted of mine.

I found that old thread and here are the instructions (copied and pasted)
1. Open a new doc and bring in the pic you want to modify.

2. Choose the Magic Wand. Set Tolerance to abou 80 (this will be different depending upon the photograph.) Make sure the "Contiguous" check box is checked. Then select a portion of the photo.

3. Create a new layer.

4. Select Edit>Stroke. I used a width of about 2 and black for the color. Click OK.

5. If you like the above effect, keep it. If not, delete the layer and play around with different tollerances for the magic wand.

6. Now for my pic, my idea was to make it look like a sketch that had morphed into a painting from left to right. So to accomplish that, I used Katie's Watery Brushes to erase the LEFT hand side of the photo. I also erased the RIGHT hand side of the outline layer.

7. Then, in order to make the rest of the layout flow with the picture, I added Katie's Watery Brushes behind the picture. I used the same technique as above to outline SOME of the watercolors.

In addition, I added some of anna's swirls (also outlined) to look like waves.

If you're still reading this, you deserve a medal Sorry it's so long...LMK if anything doesn't make sense.
