Smile Vintage Inspiration and Smiles, too.

I have the homepage of my Firefox browser set to a blog that brings a smile to my face every day. And also gives me inspiration for layouts I'd like to try here, but of course haven't yet! I thought some of you might like to take a peek, too.
It's called "The Retro Press" and it's a daily dose of vintage ads from magazines and newpapers. I love it!
Here's the link: http://the-retro-press.tjs-labs.com/
Enjoy!

oh - my - gosh! I "love" the one with the ad for Tenderoni and Liverwurst recipe. Why don't we make tasty little gems like that anymore? And that gelatin one... "so" appetizing. This is hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I'm particularly fond of the food ads. Soooo unappetizing! But I think I'd like to make some kind of layout using something like those in the background with my mom's old collection of recipes. It would be fun to scan some old magazine ads and include them.

Loved this! Was it just me or did they consume a lot of alcohol, smoke a lot, and have a fascination with cars back in the day?

What a great site. Now I know why I've been feeling so run down lately - stale coffee! And I remember the days when smoking was seen to be glamorous and exciting. Thanks for sharing.

Even though I don't drink coffee, I don't want to turn into a "peevish old woman!" Thanks for the fun site. I use old magazine ads in my multimedia art on canvas--so this is right up my alley!

Oh they are so great. I went through a spate of buying old magazines like that, they make a great 40th or 50th etc. birthday present. I found an antique store that were basically throwing them out at around $5 each, I snaffoo'ed myself a bundle. These are absolutely gold ! I'm going to subscribe to this blog now, how fun.

I bookmarked the page, thanks for the link. Some of them bring back old memories - I checked the 1950's and saw the "I dreamed" Maidenform ad" Please tell me they've had that ad more recently! It seems like it to me!

Lots of smoking going on back in the day, for sure! I am (embarrassingly) a person who can identify passenger planes even when they're in the sky, so I love the vintage aviation ads! I'd love to do a page about the flights I've taken through the years and add some of those clips in
I am a nerd...but don't tell my kids
