Default anyone know how to back up acdsee?

i am having major issues with my laptop and i have to delete and reinstall windows (sigh). i have someone coming over to help me back up outlook and i have an ehd with all my files on it, but is there a way to back up my acdsee tags? i'd hate to lose that.

thanks for helping this very intimidated gal.....just when i think i'm tech savvy, something like this comes along and reminds me i'm clueless.

If you click Database and then Backup Database you will get a backup wizard that will guide you through the process. When you're ready to restore your database you can click on Database and then Restore Database and another wizard will take you through that process.

Here's a link to a great website for all things ACDSee. It's amazing!!! This link will take you to a tutorial specifically for backing up your database.

Good Luck!

Just a note... I just finished trying to use a backup to move my ACDSee files to another computer. It doesn't get .pdf files and a few other types of files. (At least mine didn't, but that may be because I don't tag the .pdf's, just the design elements that come with them.) Also, not all of the tags worked correctly. It depends on what version of ACDSee you have.

In the new 2009 version, there is an option to embed the tags in the metadata of the files (I can't remember the file menu option because I have ACDSee 10 and it is not available in that version I don't think). It is something that you might want to check out. For me the backup didn't work well and I ended up retagging almost half of my stuff.

I used the backup option in ACDSee. Then my computer died. I was able to restore my backup with out any trouble. The only trick was to put the files in the same folder as they were before the backup.
