Default What paper/elements are using for your 365 project?

Ok Ladies, I am going back and forth with how to do my 365 album. I have decided that I am doing a page per week with a photo per day and some journaling. My problem is what paper or kit to use. I am a freak about pulling colors from my pics to use in my paper, but how do I do this with 7 different pics?! Just use a neutral kraft paper & brushes? I LOVE this kit by Mindy & I am thinking of using it for the entire book:

What paper/kit/elements are you going to use?
Also, are you making a book for your 365 project only, or are you going to add other LOs too?
UGH, I can't decide what to do as I want ONE 12x12 shutterfly book for 2009 so that gives me 100 pages.
TIA!

that's a beautiful kit! I think the neutral background will really bring it together but still let you pull in some colors from it.

I'm undecided but it will probably include kraft

Oh Katrina, your December pages are why I am thinking of going with kraft! I LOVE your book! I want the focus on the pics & journaling. I just know that I will make a decision and change my mind later! ARGH!

Joey... I am also having that problem. I want the book to be cohesive and flow well in the terms of color... but I am indecisive and like you I usually pull out colors from the photo. What I might do is do my favorite photo of the week in color and all the others in black and white... that way I only have to deal with meshing colors with one photo. I am excited for this project though and can't wait to see what everyone else does!

I'm glad you started this thread Joey. I'd really like to see what others are deciding too, cause I do the same thing, choose something and then change my mind. artmidget I hear you I would like for my book to be cohesive and flow nicely too.

I can't even decide what format to use - and I'm a little concerned about a book that's more than 100 pages long too, Joey! Trouble is, I don't want my photos to be too small! Maybe a couple of volumes??

I have decided to use cabana white paper as my background becasue I want something that I can go in whatever direction the mood takes me. Right now I have a very neutral color scheme going for the cover and for January. Mostly I have just used the background and some brushes to add some neutral color to it. I felt too locked in with my daily december about halfway through and I wanted to have more freedom and flexibility if I am going to keep this up for a whole year.

My idea is to keep it simple. I am using kraft paper and putting all seven photos on one page. The picture a day seems a little daunting to me...so I thought I would keep the format simple to use. It's great hearing everyone's ideas for this!

Joey, I did a year in review book very plain and simple with Jesse's Love-ly solids paper and kaites flourish snap frames, and edgers. Here is the link. All my photos were in a very light sepia to keep the flow. I dont think I am doing a 365 book, although I am doing the project, I am just going to scrap the ones I want to and blog/flickr all of them. But I love the kit you have chosen.

I haven't even thought about it yet - but I know I am going to use Lightroom on my photos so they will all have an aged affect, cause I am addicted and so I can let go of matching papers/elements from my photos, which is a problem I seem to have...

I just loved using Katie's botanist workbook papers for my December Daily album!! I hope to find something that will inspire me as much!!

This is EXACTLY what I wanted to see! I debated about doing all the photos in sepia or bw, but I feared that I would be upset without color. I have always enjoyed bw photos the most as I see photos better and feel the emotion in the photo better when it's not in color. I have, thanks to all you awesome ladies, decided to stick with Mindy's awesome kit (sticking with solids & neutrals) and do my pics in a sepia or bw. You all rock! Thank you!

I'm kinda thinking I might break my book into seasons... that way I'm not getting bored of the same kit for a whole year. But I haven't moved any farther than that, I'm still putting the finishing touches on my Dec Daily book!

I have no clue yet either. probably something plain, like Kraft and then add a little something. Can't be too elaborate though

Great thread, Joey!

Bailey, LOVE that! I was originally thinking along the kraft paper lines as well, but was going back and forth about the photo treatment. I like Christine's idea, and think I might use a different kit per month to keep my interest going. I've also got all the kids' photos as well, so am battling whether to do four separate books or just four pages per week ... YIKES!! Any advice on how to compile images for all four of us would be appreciated!

Whatever you do I would suggest you keep it simple to make your pages faster and that if you are uploading to shutterfly that you upload a few pages at a time rather than saving them up.

It helped with my December book to load pages each week and see it gradually progress. It was a nice little incentive to keep it going!

I haven't thought much about cohesiveness throughout the entire book - but I do want facing pages to coordinate (I am doing 1 page/week) My first week is using Patti Knox's Gingerbread Lane in - yes, you guessed it - kraft! I like the idea of sticking to one kit per month, but then what do you do when two months face each other????? Oh well, it will all work out.

For now, I bought several date stamps in the brush sale: Katie's Date Stamps Vol. 4; Date Journalers 2; Anna's Labelled Numbers as well as Anna's Scanty Journal Lines.

I see myself using a format that will end up looking a lot like a bulletin board, with dates & notes fastened to each picture - hmmm... need that new Patti Knox Fastener kit FAST!!!

Katrina, that is a great tip! Even though I won't have time this year to do the 365 Project, that's a good idea for other shutterfly albums I plan on doing. Up until now I've waited til the end and it takes ages to upload a full album.

I am going to love to see all these pages! I am crazy OCD when it comes to my family album... I would love to do something like this but I don't think I can do both = ( But I may do a week or two here and there and put it in my album... I can't wait to see what you guys all come up with!!!

I am attempting to do it, but instead of a weeky LO, I am doing a monthly LO. I made a two page template to use and then I am just going to choose papers and such each month that fit the time of the year. This month it's Katie's Snow Kit. I just can't decide if I am going to make this project a book by itself or use each LO in my family album kind of as an intro to each month. (Of course, I am having a hard time deciding the time frame for my family album - school year vs. calendar year, so once that is decided it will probably dictate what I am going to do.)

I doubt if I'll be doing a shutterfly book seeing my photos consist of subjects like unplugging the sink and doing the Clairol thing!

I do like the idea used by Ali Edwards for her December Dailies - another great example is on pixiedixie's (Amy) blog. We used to call these Junque Books. Made up of different papers, page sizes etc. I've done similar books like this and enjoy the tactile quality.

That's how I am doing my december dailies book because I had other things I wanted to include besides my layouts. But I am going to do my 365 as a shutterfly but I am not restricting myself to any one kit - except for all the pages will have Katie's cabana white paper as the background.

I'm thinking about using Katie's On the Side paper pack and Notebook paper pack for the backgrounds and then adding seasonal elements, ledger and kraft items to each page.

I'll bet some black background paper with some brushes would really make color photos pop! Hmmmmm......might even make me think about doing this project.

I have Katie's 365 templates and plan on just switching back and forth between the two spreads every other week...trying not to make the thought process too complicated. As long as the pages that face each other match, I think it will be okay.

I came up with this: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...68&ppuser=2675

I plan to take photos daily and scrap one page per week.

I like the flexibility of the squares as little spots for photos, journaling or embellishments OR combining them into larger squares for highlight photos.

Can't wait to see everyone's creativity (and fortitude!)
