I decided just to go with whatever I like that week. I'm going to print my pages myself and put them in an American Crafts album. I'm also using a different two page layout each week, this will just mix it all up!

Well I'm just getting started on the actual LO for week 1! Need to get caught up before I get too far behind. But still can't decide how I want to do it. Did any of you come up with any more ideas? I was originally thinking I wanted to do a different kit each month to mix it up, but am not sure if that will be too much. I was just thinking if I kept it to a "kit" it would speed up the process when choosing my elements. Now that we're a couple weeks into it, how did you guys decide to break it up or not break it up?
Oh and what flourishes and stamps are you guys using?? I haven't finished a LO yet, but I'm glad I'm doing this project (so far!) Are you using all color, vintage sepia, sepia, b/w or?? I don't have lightroom, but I was thinking of using actions to convert mine to vintage sepia. Not sure if I will be tired of this look after a year of it though. |

I decided to keep mine pretty simple.
I am using a neutral background on all pages. Same embossed border on all pages. Same color font very little (if any) embellies I like the idea of B & W or sepia but decided to go with color---I want to be able to see "the real deal" down the road. Some of the LO's have a contrasting paper (strips)--decided to use one kit for that month. In actuality, probably won't have many with any added paper strips. I might be bored with what I have chosen but I also know that I don't have a lot of free time. So, if I did not keep it simple, I would no doubt drop out somewhere down the line. I don't want to drop out--so I am keeping it simple really to meet my own personal time constraints. |

I finally uploaded tonight after more than a few false starts!!! I've decided to go with Kraft for the whole thing but change the colour for each different month and maybe throw in a button or two or a tiny bit of stitching — I think I need to keep it simple or I will never get it done — if I start with the 'doo dads' I'll never finish the project LOL!!!
Patricia managed to calm me down about the whole thing: so what if I don't take a picture a day...it's cool.....NOW WHERE IS MY CAMERA...I NEED TO TAKE A PIC BEFORE MIDNIGHT!!!!!!!

I'm keeping it really simple. I've got a template kit with some different layouts to play with. I'm using the "Scribble" series of papers, at least for now, and only week one even used those.
I may change things up each month, I don't know yet. I may go back and tweak my pages. Artists are never finished, they just give up. I just read that today somewhere, I don't recall where. One thing I'm thinking of - I'm doing a page per week, and when there'd be an odd page, creating a complementing page with either highlights of the month, a quote, something to tie things in a bit and make things even. I'm printing myself, so I can do whatever I want, right?

As long as the two pages match, that's what matters to me. I'm just seeing what the pictures match with each week and go from there.

As soon as I finished uploading my December Daily album, I felt like a balloon that had been pricked and deflated and is now flat and wrinkly. I got totally burned out pushing to get a LO done every day. Loved it, love the finished product, but I didn't even open PSE for more than a week and a half.
The picture every day isn't such a stress yet, but AARGH!---coming up with a simple template that I can use for every week without changing much is driving me crazy. I am going to do two pages per week and print from viovio.com, they do hard cover books up to something like 136 pages. I want the pictures prominent and large, with just a little space for journaling. I don't want a lot of white space. This is driving me nuts! I'm too OCD for a project like this. I want all 52 weeks to look pretty much the same. Help! Anyway, I'm really enjoying looking at everyone's LOs in the 365 gallery. I might get a few pages uploaded someday. Y'all will inspire me to keep chugging. Maybe I need to get a few weeks of pictures under my belt and then try to see what works the best with what I've got so far. Sarah |

What are we on now, page 3? I can already tell I'm going to have to do something different for each month, too. I planned to just change the color, but now I don't know if that will be enough for me. geez. . . Fiona, didn't you say, "don't obsess"?!

Think of the stress I save by not planning it all out at all! My weeks will run Jan 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, 22-28, 29-Feb 4, and so on, 7 days every time until, I guess, the very last page of the year. I expect to do one page per week but reserve the right to change my mind and do the occasional double-page spread. I will aim for facing pages to coordinate. That's it!
I also haven't decided whether to do a Shutterfly book of them all--I'm leaning that way, I think. But I might just get prints and put them in their own album.

So that I could fit them all in one Shutterfly book, I decided to do one page per week. My week runs from Sunday to Saturday, so I started with a 3 pic page for the first week (Jan. 1-3) and then will run 7 pics per page until the very last page which will have 5 pics (Sun - Thurs 12/31). For me this makes it easy because I can do it every weekend and I set up my template once and plan to use the same one all year. I am varying the orientation of photos each week as needed so that each page doesn't look exactly the same, but overall it is the same template. I also am planning to change the colors with each season. Not exactly sure how I will do that yet, but we'll see when I get past the gray's of winter! It has been very stress free to just pop in a picture every night with a small amount of journaling about the day.

I've seen so many of your lovely pages now and I decided to go with "Kraft" too... ROFL
I like that clean some kind of simple look - that's how I normaly scrap IRL too. I've just done my first page covering up week 2 since I started to take my pictures at January 5th. Was a bit slow in start and didn't figure out I want to do this until then... lol. I'm just a beginner at digital scrapping so where it ends noone knows. My thought is to stick with at least the same kind of papers and some decorations, but very simple and just change colors if I like to.

I'm thinking that Katrina's idea of uploading to Shutterfly as you go along is a brilliant idea! — I've never done a shutterfly book before and I have absolutely no idea how to do it
but I'm going to research the posts on shutterfly production at DD and give it a go...I think if I see a book slowly growing I might stick with it...you guys are the BEST with the ideas!Fiona |

WOW! I'm amazed on how dedicated you all are. Would love to do the 365 days, but know that I would not finish the project. I love seeing your pages, keep'em coming. I think I might capture one week a month. That way I only have 12 layouts to do instead of 365 or 52.

At first, I thought the whole 365 Project idea was ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. C'mon, who can actually do this, when we struggle to keep up with "major" events to scrap? Then in the 2nd week of Jan, I noticed when transferring my photos to my computer that I basically had already taken at least one photo per day this year, and the beauty of the simplicity of the everday things I was capturing absolutely thrilled me. And so, I gave it a shot.
I didn't want the pressure of a "design" though, to keep it simple and quick (to give myself a chance to actually stay on top of this!). I'm still scrapbooking the bigger events & longer stories of our lives in our annual family album, but I'm keeping this straight forward. I've chosen 4 templates (2 covering 2 pages and 2 w/all 7 pics on one page), and 3 basic background papers, white, kraft & black. I'm using Kellie Mize's Tortuga Template #9, which provides various ribbons & trims that are customizable. Once a week, I pick a layout and then drop in my photos throughout the week. At the end of the week I choose one of my 3 backgrounds, throw a string of ribbon along one of the edges and then place one other embellishment (flower, snowflake, button, workart, etc.) that ties into the season/theme/pics, in the corner and I'm done. Typically, this kind of simplicity in scrapbooking makes my skin crawl, because my mind won't let go of the inifinite possibilities digital has to offer. But the satisfaction of being "caught up" and the joy of these little tidbits we're capturing is so great, that I've been absolutely thrilled with this project! For anyone considering the idea of starting this - I would highly recommend picking a simple strategy like this and giving it a shot. You can always get more elaborate later, but something simple at least gets you started. Maybe the feeling of success will be what you need to keep you going?! I know it has unexpectantly been really great for me! |

I have a strange question. The first time I did Week 1, I indicated the photo date at the end of my journaling (Jan. 3, for example). Then I decided to put the date of the month in some kind of tag near the picture. But what I am thinking now is that I'd like to keep the day rolling, so that I have 1 through 365, instead of 1-30, 1-31, etc.
Would you keep the date in the journaling, or leave it off and just do the day of the year? Or do both? I like the continuity and the idea of seeing the project grow as I leave January and get into 30s, 40s, 50s . . . I think it will help keep me going. Just curious! Sarah |

I'm going very basic... using Ali's Day & Month Photo Overlays... and adding the date, a little jounaling on the 4x6 photo and printing it out... I'm using a simple 4x6 album I picked up at Meijer and I'm feeling like this project now is manageable for me!

I'm keeping it super simple. I'm using Katie's 365 templates. I'm using a background paper that fits with the theme of the month. For instance, all my January pages have a snowy background theme. All my February will have a Valentine's theme background. The backgrounds will remain the same for all the LO's for that particular month. That way I'm only really creating a new LO with new backgrounds once a month. There is no way I would stick with this project if I had to make new LO's each week.

I used one layout and background for all of January and made a new choice for Februrary. Plan to do this for all the months to keep the pages intresting. My layouts are one page per week because of the page count problem with Shutterfly.
My question is this- How are you labeling the weeks? Did you start with Jan 1-7 as week 1? This leaves the week changing Thurday- Wednesday all year, kind of strange. How do you change from one month to the next? Keep the 7 days on one page or start a new page for the next month? If you do, how do you label the weeks? ( Do you have more than one week 5 page. Ie. Jan 29-31 and Feb 1-4) I have been trying to figure this out. Any ideas?? Katy |
