Default Oblaten and Sauerbraten

For you who wanted to know, Oblaten are waferthing round or square thingies (for a lack of a better word), like the host in church, only smoother. In Germany they are used a lot under cookies. You just place your dough on top, it keeps them moister on the inside and they won't stick. Most kids love to just eat them. We called them eatable paper.
Sauerbraten is a German specialty roast. It has to marinate for 2 days in red wine and red wine vinegar, so it has a slightly sour flavor. Boy is it ever good. You serve it with potato dumplings (out of a package )
You can all come over and have a taste

Well, the oblaten sound interesting, but the sauerbraten---I think I'll pass! My lips are puckering just thinking about it. I bet yours is very yummy to sauerbraten connoisseurs, though. Have a merry Christmas!

I would love to eat that. It sounds so good. I love all things German, because my Dad taught German at the University - and we had a chance to travel in Germany and Austria when I was young.

Sounds delicious ! looks like you are good at cooking ! Would you happen to have a good recipe for lebkuchen. I tried several but they did not have the taste I was looking for. My german grandmother use to make it for us around Christmas time. I believe her lebkuchen had oblaten under. yum !
