Default How do you make stamped stitches look real?

Hi,

I was delighted to have the chat freebie stamped stitches from last night's chat (Thanks, Katie). But when I load the .abr file and stamp the stitches, they look flat. How do I make them look more realistic?

I tried a small drop shadow, and that helps a little, but they still don't look real. Am I missing something?

Hi, Lynn -

Do you happen to have this tutorial? It's one that I gave away during a HTDT? Chat. It uses the stamped stitches and I show you how to create a realistic drop shadow and then bend the stitches to give them a more realistic look.

Hi, Cassie! You are amazing to be so busy and respond so quickly!

Thanks, yes, I have it and I was trying to do what I remembered from the tutorial-- it helps. Your tutorials are the greatest!

I think I have to reread the tutorial, because I think I must be missing or forgetting something. I also tried to create a highlight layer on top, using a contracted, feathered selection, but it didn't look right.

I will reread the tutorial and play with it a little bit this afternoon and see what I get.

I really need to go do some Christmas shopping and cleaning, but I would rather be scrapping! LOL!!

if you want them to look more real rather than stamped you could add a slight bevel and a texture layer... hth!
