Default Wacom/Tablet Discussion from yesterday

Ladies,

Yesterday during Anna's chat there was some discussion about different tablets and prices, and Anna recommended one and then there was something about another one on sale . . . since I didn't know what they were at the beginning of the conversation, I kind of glossed over it. But the more I think about it, the more interested I am in looking into this technology and I didn't save the chat.

Does anyone remember which one was on sale, and the pros and cons of the various models?

Thanks!
Sarah

Sarah, I have a Bamboo Fun by Wacom! Relatively inexpensive and a great way to see if you will really enjoy one.

First, I'll just say that EVERYONE who is a digital scrapper should have a tablet and pen! Once you get accustomed to it, you will never go back to mouse or track pad again. You don't have to be an artist to use one for easier photo editing, easier placement of papers, elements and brush work, easier photo extractions and your general computer use, too. For me, it saved my arm, wrist and hand for digi scrapping. I was experiencing pain from computer over-use. I now scrap pain free using the pen.

I did not catch the sale or the recommendation on the kind of tablet during the chat, but, if you go to the Wacom site you can see side by side comparisons of the various models. I have heard great things about the Bamboo. It came out after I already had purchased a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet in the 6 x 8 size.

Whoo-hoo! Thank you so much for all your input! I went and checked out the Bamboo site and watched their video, and I dropped the hint to hubby and he was all over Amazon this morning. I guess the Bamboo Fun is more suited to what I want to do, and it seems like the small model is plenty big enough---that sounded like the size several people have.

I am really interested in preserving my right hand, and while I am left-handed, I mouse and do everything except write with my right.

You know, I used to work in IT and for about a decade kept up with cutting-edge popular gadget technology. Then I had kids and left the 9-5 workforce, and now I'm so far out of the loop! I had never heard of these things before yesterday. Now I'm excited about possibly having one soon. I have a retreat in January, and I'd like to have it to try it out then. I know how much better I feel when I use a wireless trackball over a conventional mouse, I can guess how good it would feel not to have my hand hunched over a mouse at all. I bet I can use it for my copyediting/proofreading/design work, too.

I LOVE my Bamboo. It was a Christmas present last year, and I haven't used a mouse at home since. It makes every single job on the computer both easier and faster.
