Default copyright question re:papers

Hi all,

I am brand new at this (currently a graphic designer by trade but have never tried any kind of scrapbooking). I feel like I have a dumb question but I need to ask to get started!

I would like to start creating some papers and embellishments but I am not sure where to legally get my images from. For example, if you create a paper with printed flowers on them, do you scan them from physical print you happen to have in, say, a gardening book (and is there a copyright issue with this?) Or are you purchasing stock images (and are you allowed to sell your products using these images)?

If you found a cool pin at a garage sale, are you photographing it and then scanning it? Are there potential copyright issues with this?

Thanks!
