Default Guest CT Contest * April 2009

It's time for the 2nd Guest CT Contest of 2009!!

And, once again, we've decided to mix it up a bit!

To enter you need to have posted 6 layouts in the Guest CT Gallery by the end of the month. No more. No Less.

3 of those layouts are to be assignments:
1. mix products to include product from at least 3 different designerdigitals designers
2. scrap a page with 4 or more photos
3. scrap a page with photo[s] with no people

3 layouts can be your choice.

And, as before, layouts must be 100% DesignerDigitals products.

WHY change it? Well, to level the playing field more. WHY 6 layouts? Because our permanent CT members are asked to do 6 layouts per month so we thought that was good number!

When posting, please include the assignment or the word 'choice' in your post title or description.

And what do you win??
You WIN 8 weeks of new product releases!
And you know how much new product we release every week... it will certainly add up!

We look forward to seeing all your inspiration!

The fine print: Our contest is not open to digital scrapbook product designers. Scraplifts should not be submitted. Use of DesignerDigitals layered templates are allowed.

D'oh, I just saw this! Heather, that is so so sweet of you to say. I think after only a couple months of digi scrapping, I want to learn more first. I feel like I don't even know what I don't know, lol. I will try it though. Maybe next time!

I started doing it when I was pretty new to scrapbooking (digi is the only one I have really ever done), and have found that doing it has taught me a lot. Seeing everyone else's layouts help inspire me and teach me so much.

As well, it is a great gallery for getting a wider range of viewers / commentators than you may normally get which gives me at least a better understanding of what is and isn't working on my pages to grow from.

New scrapbookers, old scrapbookers (not age but time doing it) both teach completely different things to me. So I don't really do it mainly for the "contest" but for the challenge and inspiration... but come on, who wouldn't love to win, I just don't do it ever expecting to so my winning is what it teaches me along the journey from all of you.

I keep looking for some of you active ladies to join in... I see lots of great pages by you but not in the contest gallery & I bet looking through your month of pages, you could get 3 that fit the assignments easily and have another 3 you enjoy to throw your hat in by the end of April ... hint hint Kelly... Kathleen... you other lurking ladies... I promise, they don't bite, it is fun!

Well that is food for thought to be sure. Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe I'll try it this time.

Heather, where have your entry pages gone?? I was just browsing the contest gallery and noticed that yours are not there anymore. Is there something we don't know??

I wasn't going to enter, but I read your posts here and decided to use it as a challenge to myself, so I have been quietly working on some pages. I was just thinking about uploading the first one.

Default Question about guest CT challenge.......

Hi Katie

Just got back from visiting sick family in UK for 4 weeks and have just seen this! I am going full guns on this! I absolutely love all the designs here - like I said before - there is no other site quite like yours. You are absolutely amazing all of you! Alas, I have no hope as I have just started and have zero talent - but I thought I would try! No harm!!

You say all layouts must be 100% DD products. I have just done one layout (took me all night until 5.30am!!!) but have incorporated some of my designs - is this OK? Not many - just a couple - and they are nothing on your designs but just that I can't afford to buy many bits so have to try to make my own! It's a title and a staple so nothing major!
Also, is it OK to change the DD bits. For example I used your fabulous SHINE template swirly brush bit and used your postage stamp but added an extra stamp to make it 4 instead of 3. Is that OK?

The reason I ask is that I guess part of the job of the CT is to showcase your beautiful work rather than trying to be a clever pants and change it!!!

I will continue with the next layout! I have my work cut out! Seriously jet-lagged and 6 layouts to do when I am new to this!!! But, oh to have 8 weeks of stuff.......in my dreams!

Thanks Katie

Hi Suzie,

Welcome back!
All layouts for the contest do need to be 100% DD products. Sorry for inconvenience but we need to keep the playing field level!
Look forward to seeing your pages!

I'm so sorry, Katie, but I'm a little confused. (I'm sure it's plain to everyone but me. lol.) Suzie asked about titles, does that mean we shouldn't do our own font work? Also, I drew a bunch of lines on one of my pages to resemble graph paper. Maybe I should change that? Thanks so much for any clarification. This is my first time to be evolved... It's been so much fun.

I really want to stick to the rules posted that pages should be made with 100% designerdigitals products because the job of the creative team is to promote the products in our store! thanks for understanding!

just to clarify... fonts are not included in the 'products'. You may use any font you have available to you. sorry for any confusion!
