In addition to a wide array of other digital products, Designer Digitals sells cutting files for use in a die cutting machine.
For the past several weeks, we’ve explored ways to get the most from these files by showing you how to load and use these products in the Silhouette Cameo.
Once you have downloaded, imported and created cutting lines around the images, you’ll want to save your project in a way that saves you time when you want to cut the images again.
With your cutting document open, select File > Save As from the Menu bar or press Ctrl Shift S (Mac: Cmd Shift S) on your keyboard. This opens the Save As dialog box. Use the Save in: drop-down menu at the top to select a location on your computer.
With File Name: you can give the file a descriptive name.
From Save As Type: choose .studio. This will save the file with cutting lines so that you won’t have to trace the images again.
This will be especially helpful when you have created a page with multiple images to cut.
To open files you have saved, open the Silhouette software.
Click the Show Drawing Area icon on the left side of the screen.
Select File > Open or press Ctrl O on your keyboard (Mac: Cmd O).
Locate the file using the Look in: box at the top of the Open dialog box.
Double click the file you want to open. It will populate with cutting lines in the drawing area.
