Well, Bailey, I just flatten my image, change it to 6x6 inches @ 72 dpi, then "save for web" and adjust the quality until it's under 100K.

There may be better ways, but I'm too lazy to try and figure them out.

I am new to scrapbooking but not to webwork one thing I had to learn was.
If you are saving it as a jpg the thing to remember it looses quality with each save so never save it to jpg until your done. And in photoshop use the save for web and just tweek it. I actually like fireworks compression ability better does a much better job then photoshop. But CS3 seems to have picked up some good tip from fireworks.

That is essentially the same way Jessica Sprague teaches in her new class...so if it is good enough for Jessica AND Cassie...it must be good enough for us mere mortals!

I also do what Cassie said...one minor addition is something Kim here at DD suggested -- and that is running the .jpg through a sharpen filter to add crispness

You don't have to "expect," Deena, you just have to "be." All of your stuff is so amazing, you could submit NOTHING and still get one picked up! lol
