Cassie, I completely agree with everything you said! Although I didn't realise those were scriptures. Interesting. I also noticed the swearing and thought it seemed out of character. Ron's was ok, because he was a teenager getting older, but a lot of times it just seemed silly.
This was the only book I cried in -- when Harry was holding the stone and walking into the forest, I lost it!! My favorite chapter by far. I thought it was all very well written and overall I think she did an excellent job tying up all the loose ends. Loved knowing about Dumbledore's past and also that he was already cursed before Snape had killed him.
I loved what Neville had evolved into. Kind of Lord of the Flies-ish And I really liked that he cut the head off the snake. I knew Snape had to be good -- even if he did hate Harry. I kind of thought he might die physically trying to save him, that way Harry would have known, but I guess I'm not the author
I was surprised and disappointed at the deaths of Lupin and especially Tonks. We didn't even have a scene where we saw them battling (maybe it was cut??) they just ended up dead with a new baby left behind. Kind of like Harry I suppose, but I think Tonks' death at least was not necessary. And Dobby -- SNIFF! Would have liked to see Luna reunited with her father too! I always wanted Harry and Luna to get together!! LOL!
The only part I did NOT like was the epilogue! I thought it was extremely sappy -- everyone marrying each other and living happily ever after and all having kids the same ages (with the stupidest names ever!). And I wanted to know what Harry went on to do -- Neville was herbology professor but what about the rest? I fully expected Harry to be doing something at Hogwarts.
I'm sad it's over now though. I've been reading the books aloud to my boys so tonight we start Half-Blood Prince then I get to re-read Deathly Hallows with them
