I desperately need to have mine cleaned, too. I've had spots and smudges on my photos for months now. I thought they were on the mirror, but I think some of them are actually on my 18-70 lens. I can only see those particular smudges when I load that lens. I'm not confident enough to do it myself, and we don't have a camera shop anymore. I know how it feels to be without---my husband took my camera out of town once for an overnight trip, and even though I wasn't planning on using it, knowing it wasn't there made me feel antsy and agitated.
