Moms of boys do it by spacing them.
My two are 4 years apart, not that I knew the 2nd would be a boy! Mine were raised in England so there was less boisterousness than I see here now. Different times.
The big kicker is the appetite they suddenly acquire, where a box of cereal is one serving, a gallon of milk is a couple of gulps etc etc It was my ability to store enough milk for my two teenage boys. There went the fridge space!
