Oh Mary....poor Hayden!
I had something similar happen when I was 14yrs old. I was sleeping over at a friends house & she had a hamster which we took out in the tv room to let run around. Well in the morning, I was the 1st one up. I went downstairs to watch tv & took out little Hammy, at some point while watching tv, I lost track of him and after that we couldn't find him at all! I was so upset, especially cause it was my friend's. They found him a few weeks later & needless to say, he didn't make it! To this day, I'm still feel totally guilty about it.
Talk to him & give him big hugs! I hope that boys get over these things better than girls! It's a total accident & I hope in time he'll feel better!
