Uninvited
I have been officially uninvited to my niece's wedding this coming weekend and asked not to come. I wish I could say that my feelings are hurt, but in reality it is a bit of relief too. My niece has been a bit of a bridezilla.
My kids are both infected with H1N1 flu virus for the past week. Due to the fact that I am not sick after taking care of two very sick kids for the past 7 days, I really don't think I will be coming down with it any time soon. However, I did call my niece and let her know that the kids were sick and that my hubby had planned to stay home with them on Saturday (he was an usher and I was the photographer for the day) and wouldn't be able to be in the wedding party. She just called me back and said she doesn't want any of us to attend now. After reading her facebook update, I wonder if she is really nervous about me carrying the virus or more to the fact that she is really mad at us for saying that one of us needed to stay home with the kids. Her facebook was not kind to us for throwing a wrench into her wedding plans. I am sorry, but life happens and my kids' health is a priority for me.
As for the relief, I am scared to death of taking her wedding pics given the demands she has made of me for the past two years. She said a cousin of the groom will take pics instead on Saturday and I wish him the best. She has some very unreasonable demands for the pics that I warned her would not be in the best interest. I was very worried about the pics not turning out the way she wanted them. This way it is out of my hands and I no longer have to stress out over them.
I'll spend another day with my kids playing board games. Hopefully by Saturday, we will be caught up with all the homework from missed school days.
