Welcome to DD! You do not have to create a page using only brushes. There are so many different ways to use them and so many different brushes in the store. Here's a link to the brushes:

Also, Cassie has a tutorial in the store, however it is for Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
Brush Tool Basics. I don't know much about the program you are using. Hopefully someone else will chime in!
