I think you did the right choice. I'm a Canon user, but I've heard so many great things about Nikon as well. Lenses is what you should use your money on. I use a Sigma 50 mm f/1.4 almost all the time. I also have the 70-200 f/2.8 IS which is a big investment, but it produces really beautiful photos. (Canon 40D body). There are a couple of other lenses I'd want to buy if I had the money. Currently it's the new 100mm macro f/2.8 USM IS that I really, really want, but it is very expensive, so I would have to win the lottery first. A 18-50 (or similar focal length) f/2.8 is also a great investment if you take a lot of photos indoor. Although I know that many pros skip the zoom lenses and buy just primes (single focal length lenses). A 30 mm would be a good choice then.
