This has been my big hang-up with Project 365 templates. I have avoided templates with strong vertical or horizontal photo spots because I always take a variety--there is no week that has only one or the other. But I have found that square photo spots tend to work OK--it's not the photo I imagined when I was composing it in camera, but if the composition is important to me and I like the photo enough, I simply use it again in a non-Project 365 layout. I also don't worry too much about the order of my pictures--if I do use a template with a mix of vertical and horizontal, I use the photo spots that work with my photos from that week and don't feel obliged to go in date order around the page.

I've also chosen not to use the same templates all year long; my two-page spreads match, but that's really all that matches. So that frees me up some in regard to template choice every couple weeks. (And I don't always use a template, for that matter.)
