Erin I NEVER EVER clean my camera myself. They say you can so do damage.
Here in SA if you take your camera direct to Nikon/Canon/ANO you hand it in to the service dept - they put it in a vacuum and clean it. For free. and you can wait. Wonder if you have the same service there.
