I am usually a one photo per page scrapper and when I began looking for templates for this challenge – that’s what I was looking for. However I finally settled on two templates which could allow for one photo, or maybe four or maybe more . . . depending on how you decide to “mash” them!
The first template I settled on was this one of Katie’s:
I love the little coin holder overlaid on the photo, and the gorgeous stamped frame background. And the shadowing on that doily – swoon!
Then I chose this Layer Works template:
Kayleigh is so talented at adding all the layers and goodies – something that I CAN do (after studying and lifting Kayleigh A LOT), but which still takes me a really long time to pull off! So much quicker and easier to use one of the templates she has designed.
I began my page by opening up Katie’s Paradise Template and hiding all the elements that I thought I probably wouldn’t use. I popped my photo in, and then started pulling in layers and elements from the Layer Works template.
I really like that when you purchase a DD template, most of the layers are named with their original product names. This means that I could see that Kayleigh had used a lot of elements from the Katie’s Jaspia Kit and her Daisetta Element Pack. This makes it so easy to switch elements out for a different one if you want to, keeping the colours and patterns co-ordinated.
And this is what I did, using elements from both templates, but switching a couple of them for items from the Jaspia kit.
The resulting page uses considerably fewer layers than Kayleigh’s wonderful design, but is still rather more busy than my usual layouts! I’m really happy with the way it turned out!
I hope you will be likewise inspired to scrap one, or four . . . or more of your precious photos for this challenge. If you don’t have Katie’s Paradise template or Layer Works 903 in your stash, watch out for this week’s Thrifty Thursday Sale 😉
If you do participate, your layout can earn you credit in our rewards program. All of the details are in the May Challenge Participation Sign-in thread. Please share your pages by posting them in the Template Challenge Gallery. I look forward to seeing what you create! Happy scrapping everyone!
