Template Mash-Up Scrapbook Challenge

It’s time for another fun Template Mash-Up Challenge. Since we are coming up on celebrating Halloween in the US, one of the templates I chose has a bit of a Halloween theme, while the other is quite simple and both can be used so many ways. This time we will be using Layer Works No. 249 and Cathy Zielske’s Layered Template No. 57 . You can go Halloween, or autumn by mashing the two but don’t feel like you have to go that direction. Let your creativity take you any way you want. No rules except to use what you want from each template, whatever other Designer Digital products you have, and create one fabulous mashed up page!

Here are a few pages from the Creative Team to get your creative juices flowing:

Carol (Carollee) used the frame and the embellishments from the Layer Works template and then duplicated the squares from Cathy’s template. Duplicating the squares and then clipping these adorable photos of her dog, Lucky and his new chew toy made for a wonderful foundation for the frame. Here are the products she used:

Cathy Zielske: Cathy Zielske’s Layered Template No. 057 Studio Double-D: Layer Works No. 249 Lynn Grieveson: Intensity Paper Pack  Katie Pertiet: Faringdon Scrapbooking Kit Faringdon Add-On Paper Pack Edge Overlays No. 03 Burlap Essentials Paper Pack Font: Telegraphem

Chrissy (kikimama) mashed the two templates together almost in their original form and added her own spin with fabulous brushwork, word art to the title and elements. Her photos tell the story of a visit to a large wind farm, where there were crafty workshops for her kids while they were on a school holiday. I love how she created the wind turbine with elements from a few kits.

Here are the supplies she used: Cathy Zielske: C Zielske Layered Template No. 57, Studio DD: Layerworks No. 249, Katie Pertiet: Cut-ups Summertime, Basic Twills Springtime, Littlest Farmer kit, Defining Fall brushes and stamps, Faringdon Scrapbook Collection,  Gesso No. 1, Striping Graphic Starburst Brushes and Stamps No. 1; Artsy PaintNo. 2, Holiday Trimmings, Messy Stitched Circles No. 1, Yellow Word Bits; Lynn Grieveson: Forecast kit, Worn Photo Edges No. 1

I (jcaruth910) had the same idea as Chrissy by keeping the templates in their similar format and moving around the elements from the Layer Works. I decided to go with the Halloween theme. My friend wanted to show me this witch’s hat that she was going to wear to a Halloween party. Of course, we both had to take each others photos while trying it on. 🙂

Here are the supplies I used:  Cathy Zielske: C Zielske Layered Template No. 57, Studio DD: Layerworks No. 249, Katie Pertiet: Little Enamel Charms October, Pocket Cards Fall Sentiments No. 1, Halloween Magic Kit, Loosely Labeled Dates, ReadyMade Journalers Halloween No. 1, Watery Pencil Line Halloween No. 1, Frightful Element Pack, Bunny Slope Blue Solid Paper Pack, Spring Fields Solid Paper Pack.

One suggestion – if we’re going to add a challenge on the next to the last day of the month, is it possible to have this one due the following month? I love these template mashups, but I just didn’t have time to get it done before the end of the month.
