Template Mash-Up: Clean & Whimsical

I’m really excited to be hosting the “Template Mash-Up” this month! This challenge was actually intimidating to me the first time I joined in, but now the more I “mash”, the more fun it is! The creative possibilities using one template seem endless, but when you combine all the design elements of TWO templates, well… the possibilities are infinite!

This month, I chose two very different templates: One is simple, clean and graphic (and right up my alley! LOL); the other is fun, whimsical and not at all simple! (I secretly wanna be Janet Long, so I specifically chose this template! Only to discover what I already knew: There is only ONE Janet Long! But it sure is fun to mimic her style!) The templates are Layered Memories No. 113 and Layer Works No. 098.

Creative Team members, Trace and Sara, both jumped at the chance to ‘mash’ these two templates and I’d say they both did a fabulous job, wouldn’t you?

Trace flipped the Maplebrook Studios template to accommodate her photos and shrunk it a bit, as well. She used Studio DD journaling spots and other feminine and fun elements to tell her story and accent the page so perfectly… it’s soft and sweet and so pretty. I especially love the grouping of elements next to her sweet focal photo.

I LOVE POP-TYIn addition to the two templates, Trace used these supplies:

KATIE PERTIET (Be Hoppy Scrapbooking Kit, Be Hoppy Solids Paper Pack, Be Hoppy: Paint, Be Hoppy: Washi Tapes, Black, White and Lime Kit (linen button), Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit No. 01 (photo corners), Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit No. 08 (wooden arrows), Cut Ups: Everyday No. 03, Fine Line Twists Brushes and Stamps No. 03, Splatters Brushes and Stamps No. 04)

Sara and her family now have a couple of chickens runnin’ around and she’s documented their development so far in this fun layout! Sarah also used the journaling spots, photo frames and she customized the labels to create her own subtitles. She recolored the title letters to coordinate with her photos and kept the feel of the layout natural, rustic and whimsical!

ALL ABOUT THE GIRLSIn addition to the two templates, Sara used these supplies:

KATIE PERTIET (Autumnal Artistry Kit, Almost There Element Pack, Posted Easter, Farm Fresh Collection
Winter Silhouettes Brushes and Stamps)

Of course, if you know me, you know that I love the graphic style of the Maplebrook Studios template so that became the foundation of my layout. I duplicated, resized and recolored the brush. I clipped patterned paper to two of the masks and used the title letters and labels from the Studio DD template “as is”… all I added was paper! Who knew it could be so easy? *grin*

TELL MEIn addition to the two templates, I just added paper:

KATIE PERTIET (Brilliant Love Paper Pack, Anzio Solids Paper Pack)

I hope you join us for this month’s “mash-up”! These two templates will be on sale in the DD store and don’t forget to link up your layout in the May “Challenge Participation” thread to qualify for the “Rewards Program”!
