Happy Hump Day everyone! Nancy here with a new template challenge to get your creative juices flowing and add a little scrapbooking fun to the rest of your week!
Across the nation, everyone seems to be singing the same tune with regard to winter holding on a little longer this year, pushing one my favorite seasons, spring, back a bit. What that usually means in our neck of the woods, is that spring will probably pass us by entirely and we’ll be hot and sticky before you know it. I know the kids in this house, are already counting the days to summer vacation, sigh! I’m not sure I’m as anxious as they are, since their summer vacation severely cuts into my precious scrapping time, but I digress… Truth is, we’re already planning what new adventures we’ll be taking this year, and before I know it, there will be a deluge of new summer memories to scrap. That being said, if you’re anything like me, there are still memories and stories from last summer that haven’t made it into your pages yet. With that thought in mind, I selected a challenge template that is sure to get you reminiscing about warmer days gone by, whether you actually decide to use it for that or some other creative purpose.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at the challenge template, Layer Works No. 72
This is how some members of our Creative Team put this template to use:
First, is this gorgeous page from Lynn (grandma lynnie). Lynn used one of her own seascape photos for the background and put a detail shot in the frame. She also combined the multiple frame openings to showcase just one close up of the fish swimming by. For those of you who haven’t been following the travel pages in Lynn’s gallery, she recently returned from a cruise (lucky girl) and said using her photos in this way reminded her of what they saw on their half submarine tour with the coral on the ocean floor and the fish swimming by. I can certainly see what she means, can’t you?!! She also swapped out some of the elements, including the journaling spot for some that better suited her photos and recolored the stitched frame, so that it would show up better on her background.
In addition to the featured template, Lynn used: By Katie Pertiet: Go Fish Kit Grunge Overlays, By Maplebrook Studios: Pacifica Kit.
Next, we have Beckie (mungerre) with a special vacation memory. Beckie changed the orientation of the photo block and used just the underlying frame for the awesome texture you see here. She clipped a paper to the background mask, always a favorite look of mine and changed out some of the elements for some of her own choosing, relocated and re-colored the title and added a page border. The perspective of her photo is so cool! I love how it emphasizes how little her boys were at the time of their visit, standing in front of the giant rudder. I also love the spot she used for her rather extensive journaling on this page. So creative, Beckie!
In addition to the featured template, Beckie used: Anchors Away Cruise Scrapbook Kit by Katie Pertiet and Wild Island Kit and Wild Island Worn Paper Pack by Lynn Grieveson
Lastly, my page (nancybeck). We spent a week in Branson last summer and rented an awesome boat equipped with a water slide during our stay. This photo of my grandson’s wasn’t particularly special, but it reminds me of all the fun we had that day! I eliminated the photo frames in favor of a single masked photo and changed the orientation of the stitched frame. I love the title and elements just the way they are and just added a couple more. After all, a girl can never have too many embellishments!
In addition to the featured template, I used: By Katie Pertiet: Painted Book Papers No.1, Layered Bookshelf Frames No.1, Watery Photo Masks No.4, Away We Go Kit, Artsy Paint No.2, Atlantic Kit, Shoreline Kit and Bead Scatterings, By Ali Edwards: Capturing 2010-2012 Brushes and Stamps
Well that’s it for this post folks. If you have time to play along, I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Don’t forget, this template along with 400 other random items in the store will all be on sale to feed your shopping fix at 30% off this Thursday!
