Template Challenge: 1, 2, 3—Ready, Set, Scrap!

I thought we’d try something just a little different for this week’s Template Challenge. I challenged the Creative Team to use Katie’s Timeline Layered Templates No. 03 to design a page. Although Katie created these templates to make Facebook timelines a snap, they work equally well for a whole scrapbook page. Use one or two or all three!

LT158110XCarol (carollee) used all three templates, making modifications in two of them, to document a photowalk she took with Esther (esther a). I love how she used a picture of the graffiti they photographed as a backdrop for her appropriately grungy title work, and her edge treatment echoes the paint. Another great design detail is the repeated stripes on her page.

Beckie (mungerre), one of our new Creative Team members, also used all three templates, modifying them to accommodate the adorable photos of her children having lunch with their stuffed animals. That sounds like something my grandchildren would love to do! The colorful banner in the center draws the eye to Beckie’s focal photos, and her title work is awesome. How cool is it that she and Carol used such similar alphas?

I used only one of the templates but duplicated it twice to create a three-tiered grid. After I aligned the center points of the template, I decided I wanted to extend the design with additional small rectangles to create spaces for more patterned paper and embellishments. As you have no doubt noticed, Beckie and I both used Lynn’s cool new Aeronaut Kit and its jaunty banner. I am always drawn to that color combination.

It’s interesting to me that all three of our layouts share a similar design but also contain lots of different touches. I’m excited to see what you do with this challenge – will it be one, two, or three for you? Pick up the template for 30% off in the store today, and post your page in the Template Challenge Gallery. Now get busy – you have some scrapping to do!
